hi
i came to india along with my 6th month son.he is 11 months now.i took the vaccine at 6th month and came here.we thought of returning back at 12 th month.but now we are returning at 14th month.i have to take the 12th month vaccine here.so anyone can u pls suggest that what is the procedure to follow.his father is coming next month from u.s.does he has to get vaccines or are they available here.

if you can contact your indian dr before you leave to india,do so..ask him whether or not he wants you to bring the vacinations from US,,some drs has adviced depending on babies health conditions.and some dr in US have asked their parents to buy vaccines here and take it to india and get them done on dates acc to their babies health !
also, take your baby medical records and esp vaccination records,as a copy with you,,ask your dr you need one as you are not sure about the period you are travelling,,and if ne emergency arrives.
so ask your dr if its necessary,if you are in US,,you will be missing your baby 1 year vaccines which you can give in India, or after coming from India,,ask your dr about what he is comfortable with. generally if your baby is 11months, your dr might finish off with 1 year vaccine and you dont have to worry for it,,then its generally 15 mnths or 18months depending on where you are staying in US.
if you are able to get the vaccines in India, get them done on time in india, go acc to availability, and take a note of it,ask your indian dr to get you a prescribed form of it or which describes the vaccines in detail..when you come here, take your kid to well child checkup and let your US dr see, what all vaciines your baby has been given and in what amounts, at your india trip..
if he feels the need, he will add or deduct the dosage or even avoid giving ne vaccines or he may give only the ones that are missed...you will be returning at 14th month,so after 1 year, you wont be missing ne vaccine shots...

Hi Madhu,

Several of my friends had a similar problem as you. They were all able to get the right vaccines done in India. It should not be a problem in any major city. It might be a hassle to get them from the US since there could be restrictions or storage problems due to temperature requirements (but I am not certain of this).

Your husband can get a copy of your son's vaccinations from his pediatrician. That will be more than enought to guide the pediatrician in India. Go to one that is used by friends and family. Many pediatricians in big cities are well versed in the current medicines/vaccines of the US.

thanx a lot for u reply.Actually i consulted a pediactrician in hyderabad(i stay in hyd).He told that among three vaccines(hib,mmr,pcv)they can give 2 of them exept pcv which is not available in india.But recently i saw in paper that it is released in bombay.
