Hey guys...I want to say thanks again for your support...
Well, I attended my first, among a series of 5, childbirth preparation classes yesterday evening and I must say it was very informative. We were told about the signs of labor, how to time your contractions and when to go to the hospital and were shown a video about how ones' labor and delivery can be exactly opposite of how you think it might be.
The best part for me was being amongst all the pregnant women...It made me feel less inhibited and at home.. :)
In the midst of the 3 hours class, we experienced an earthquake (4.0 on the richter scale) and were also shut in the hospital (because the earthquake had caused a refinery close by (Chevron) to catch fire)..:)
Even if we end up not following any of their advise when the time does arrive for us, it is good to have the informatiion handy..I would recommend everyone to attend these classes if possible.
Simmi and others who might not have this option available, can take online classes..I think the Oct board had some good links posted for online childbirth classes...
Vindhya, if your hospital doesn't offer them (I am sure it does), you can take them in any kaiser permenente hospital(Oakland, Alta Bates, Richmond etc) for a little bit extra than what the members pay...do check into it. This class will also allow your hubby to get more involved in what you are going through...
Take Care.....Have a great weekend everyone..
