What does a baby do at 6 weeks. My son sleeps, and at other times is very cranky. He can play alone i.e. look around and make very soft cooing sounds for about 10 minutes maximum. Then he starts crying for attention and wants to be held and walked around. It is very tiring for me. Please advice any simple tried and tested method to make him play on his own. Well my mom left in a month and it was hell. What i did helped me. try it out.

First get a swing. That's a boon for every mom. Preferably an aquatic swing from fisher price which rocks both ways. Helps in putting the baby to sleep and swing other times.My son sleeps in the swing sometimes and that is ok.

Leave them to cry for a while. I mean dnt pick him up immediately give him 5 to 7 min before u pick him up.

An activity link gym is a little too early. Generally the playing part start at 2 or 2 and a half months and till then it is a pain. Swing will be very helful to u since he will sleep off most of the time in it.

Later u can get cds from Kay Bee toys in any outlet mall for 99 cents. Then play them and leave him with some toys. U can switch on the tv which is my latest technique so they feel someone is nearby. I know it is tough but one way is to leave him on the ground and sit next to him and talk to him than picking him up.

Take care of ur health since once ur mom leaves u will take full charge. Gud Luck.
