What is the effect of TV on a 3 month old baby? Problem is, my mother is here to watch my baby (this is not the problem ;o) ). But, she has to have the TV on all the time. It's on from morning 8 to evening 9. Since it's convenient for her, she keeps the baby in the TV room. I am really worried, about the impact it might have on him. For me it seems as if there's too much noise. He is fine with it. He sleeps well. But will the sound effect him? There are so many ad's which keep repeating every 5 mins. I am not sure what effect the repetition will have on the baby.

yes the TV can affect baby.
While i was expecting baby, i was asked by the doc to avoid TV since the rays can pass thru flesh. (which means even if u sit closing eyes/your back facing TV they can pass thru)

I think this problem can be addressed by keeping baby at a place in same room where rays dont reach, say some rubber sheet/plastic hanging on the side of the crib... and keeping baby on other side , and as away as possible from TV

regarding volume ... even if the baby shows liking for sound, i wd say keep the volume low all times, definitely during the breaks when the ads hv even larger volumes. it may startle the baby.
In a recent post on his site .. I dont recollect the name ... someone had asked about baby nightmares where hetal had discussed various points including what baby hears.

I wd not suggest to ask ur mother to stop watching TV, its just 1 hr. She likes it so try let her watch.
See if u can keep baby in separate room for that 1 hr.
