hi pradeepa,
i have suffered 2 successive miscarraiges. upon tests i was diagnosed as having tuberculosis of the endometrium, apart from some othere problem. because of the tuberculosis there were some small adhesions which were removed by hysteroscopy. also i am on anti-tb treatment which is for 9 months, you have to take some meds thats all. i am in my 8th month of treatment, so just 1 more to go.
bye

Subject:  genital TB detected AFTER embryo transfer

Hi. Am undergoing a natural cycle IVF, and had undergone a hysteroscopy 4 weeks ago, during which endometrial tissue sample was taken (biopsy) and sent to lab for testing TB.

1st week report was -ve, as was the 2nd week.

Now, the embryo transfer took place last week and today, the lab has told us that in the 4th week, the culture is suddenly showing TB bacteria growth.

This is very scary because suddenly there´ s a whole new factor to worry about.

Can anyone out there help me with info on these points:
1. Given that I´ ve tested +ve for TB in the 4th week and not the 1st or 2nd weeks, does it mean that it is minimal infection or at a very early stage?

2. What could be the possible impact on chances of embryo implantation (I´ m still a week away from my pregnancy test)

3. If preg. test is positive, how will the TB impact the foetus?

If any of you have any inputs on this specific case, I´ d be very grateful if you shared them with me. Most of my internet research is related to patients with extensive history of TB and how IVF is the best solution for them.

Thanks,
Zoya
