Due Date Club October 2005:Experience Moms - Pls share

Name: Veenu I would like to have experienced Moms input as well our board Moms...

Rohan is latching properly but some days it is round the clock... He drinks for 30 minutes and take 30 minutes to go to sleep and gets up in an hour and sometimes half an hour and ready to go for feeding again... Is this normal...I can hear him swallowing and I know he is getting... Also I heard sometimes yu feel the breast is empty but when baby latches it automatically produces milk...

But the whole thing is keeping me awake though it is not happening everyday but 2-3 times in a week...

Is the first month like this?
Will it get better?
Any suggestions/advise?

Veenu SMom replied. This is quite normal. I found that my son would go through phases of continuous feeding. It coincided with his growth spurts. I don't know where you are located. In the US, some pediatricians will say that you need to put the baby on a 2-3 hr schedule. I am glad that my ped did not suggest that. There was no way I could do that when my son was hungry and crying.

Yes, I agree that it is very tiring. I had my first long stretch of night sleep only when my son was 5 months old! Don't worry, once he is older and sleeping through the night you will forget this. I gave up my job when my son was 3 months old, so things were quite easy.

Unless the baby goes cranky, do not worry about his hunger. Whenever u feed, c that he feeds on both sides for 10-15 mts. Try to wake him up if he sleeps in between.

Growth phase

Vra - yes he is latching 15-20 minutes on each breast and between i try to burp him. If he is sleepy ischange his diaper / clothes so he is awake

I have been visiting site and finally cld see posts. Rhea is doing good.Pretty active like other kids.she sings whole abc song and counts 1to 6 (her bro' s impact)
I have been busy since i joined work since Jan ,so my inlaws are here to help with kids.i terribley miss both kids during day.
