Miscarriage and Child Loss:question about LIT

Hi,

I have had 3 miscarriages and 1 case of neural tube defect and had to get abortion in 12th week.

I have recently been diagnosed with Latent Tuberculosis and high TNF-Alpha. I am on TB medication.

I have a confusion re LIT, i thought may be someone can help?

I am currently taking AKT4 (tb medicines) and Dr.Reita Ghosh asked me to meet her after taking medicines for 3 weeks, on my visit to her, she suggested me to undergo LIT, i asked her which test explains that i need to undergo LIT, to that she mentioned about TNF-Alpha, where as i thought having controlled tb, would automatically take care of high TNF-Alpha. I am confused if LIT is just an experiment that is done to everyone if reason for miscarriage is not clear or there is a test for it. any idea ?

Thanks
Neeta

hi neeta,
I was in the same situation after my first miscarriage i chkd with dr. reita ghosh for the same and found that TNF-alpha was high so had the LIT theraphy for i thk 2 times, after then i had my second miscarriage we chkd we found i had tb so i took AKT4 for 9 months. I used to chk my blood every time to chk the tnf level and then only used to take the LIT. After the tb treatment i had a successful pregnancy and my son is now 2. Go ahead and do the treatment, it will be successful. All the best, if u need further clarifications i am ready to help you.

hi,
Great to know that you met dr. manorma I had met another dr before her but after meeting Dr. manorma i stuck to her and I find her very nice and very considerate. Right now I am in US and will be back in India by next month, i will provide my phone then. I know how you must be feeling right now, very frustrated, I used to be like that extremely depressed and irritated and 2 people who really helped through were my husband and Dr.manorma. Don´ t worry you will tide through this tough time. Believe me have faith in god and try to stick to one doctor, everyone has different opinion, stick to one whom u and ur husband are comfortable with. Lot of prayers also helped. If you can do the pradhosham fast, do it also it surely helps. If you are interested in the fast, you can search in the net for the details or else i can send u also. I think my personal email id will not go through this. you can try asowdhamani. I hope u will be able to figure out.

All the best and best assured that my prayers are with you.

Hi Sowdha

Thanks for your response. I met Dr. Manorama Singh in order to take a second opinion about LIT. According to her, it was not required for me to take TB medicine and she has asked me to wait for 7 months and then get a test to see if LIT is required or not.

I have met 4 doctors and i get 4 different responses from each one of them, this is very frustrating for me. Why i can´ t anymore stick to one doctor is because i want to know all possibilities/tests that can be done before i plan for any further pregnancy.

BTW i did mention to Dr. Manorama Singh about being in touch with you through IndiaParenting, she remember you very well, she even knew that you are in US and remembered your husband´ s name " Arvind" . Good to see Doctors remembering their patients.

Can you give me your contact no.? if required can i call you?

Thanks
Neeta

Hey! I hope you are doing well. Miscarriages are a terrible thing that can happen to a family. It is like your dream of having a child and the next moment it is all gone. There are various reasons why miscarriages happen. But I do not think that miscarriages should affect the relationship. It is the responsibility of the husband to understand that no one is at fault.
