I am 39 years old divorcee and for the past one and a half years have been kicking around searching for a male child for adoption . Most of the oficals in the adoption agencies aren' t aware that there isn' t nthing as such in law and CARA guidelines which bar a single male from adopting a male child. But the adoption agencies look down upon the single fathers as if they are outcast. Why this descrimination on the basis of gender? Mel replied. They are just skeptical of a male single parent. You may be upset by it, but they have no way of finding out whether you are genuine or not, and don' t want to take the chance of subjecting a child to abuse.

Maybe you can take recourse of the law. speak to a lawyer and find out what actions you can take to convince them that you are genuine, maybe an affidavit, or some other measures and they will accept.
