HI hetal,
i delivered on 19th of this month. initially i did not have any feed, but later on it got established. one of my nipples were inverted also so it was difficult for the baby to feed. my son sleeps at a strech for more than 5 hrs and when he wakes up he demands feed for the next 3-4 hrs when he is awake. i started on lactogen inthe first week itself giving him 30 ml once a day, now it has increased to 60 ml once but for the past 2 days the intake has increased to twice a day. is it fine? i am feeling guilty about giving lactogen. i eat properly and i want to BF him completely. is it normal to feed him lactogen in between mu feeds. i am confused and feeling depreessed that i am not able to feed him completely.

Hetal replied. a newborn is expected to feed around :
6–8 feedings of full feeds on both sides of breast..or 6–10 feedings of 2–4 ounces each,,of formula or with bottle.
expect growth spurts from your newborn almost every 2-3 days,,and from 1month onwards,,almost every week !
a newborn may feed between 8-12times a day or even more,,and growth spurts may lasts upto 1-2 days.
make sure to feed him well..no worries,,
its normal to feed formula if you are not having a good supply but i would force you to keep trying for BM without ne guilt...because you should not feel that you did not try your best.keep yourself relaxed, right now atleast for 1st month,,the main thing is feeding only..so keep doing that.
i would say you should not feel guilty or depressed about offering formula,,you have tried your best which was in your control,,,after all your best efforts,,now its upto nature, your body and ofcourse our almighty god to take care of things that are NOT in our control...feel lucky that you are able to give him watever 5-10 or 50% bm you are giving,,some babies were given formula from day 1 and they were perfectly fine..what matters is how you care for your baby,,how you attend him,,so that irrespective of watever he is fed//may it be formula or bm,,he grows in positive way...
it should not bother you because running after something that is not in your control and crying for it is useless or let me practically call feeling miserable for NOTHING !
so be away from such thougghts that gets you into the loop of feeling depressed,,you have a beautiful lil one before your eyes,,and as a mother now you CAN NOT afford to feel dpressed when someone is looking upon you for everything he needs...soon your baby will look upon you for a smile !! you cant give him a smile that is not natural,,,.your being depressed and in constant mental trauma will make a major impact on his development,,surprising though it sounds but you have to understand that no matter how good you pretend being happy before your baby,,from outside,,your baby feels the tension from your body just when you hold her ! it will not only make your baby feel the anxty but his growth, moods all will be affcted,,you cant control your nervous system when you are worried about something,,,
so keep yourself away from all mental depressns,,,, offer him watever BEST from your side,,give him a comforts that are in your reach and a relaxed touch..
check his wght on weekly basis and at your next apt to your dr, ask for the growth charts and milestones charts..this will help you monitr your baby on weekly, monthly,,,
take care, njoy motherhood...

RE:Adult breast feeding
I was not breastfeed in my childhood hence the idea of sucking and feeding from a woman's full, engorged breasts has infatuated me. It is a fantasy that drives me wild like nothing else, just the thought of laying my head in a woman's lap while she brings her swollen nipples to my mouth. Ideally, I'd like to finally explore this with the right female. If you are in or near... - Sanjayhyd [View Message]
