Hello,
My son is 2 and a half month old.He sleeps a t 11 in the night .Since somebody told me not to fill his stomach at night i give him some milk for his hunger and he sleeps .But i donno when does he wake up?when i wake up in the night 2 o clock he would be like raising his legs and sleeping in between (he sleeps in a cradle).Am scared i donno wheather he's getting good sleep.I donno when he starts doing it ?And i donno why he's raising legs between sleep? But his activities are fine.Is it coz of colic?then he should cry isn't it?Please some one reply .
I burp him well before sleep. Will gas collect even after burping?Am damn tired when i go to sleep so am unable to observe this before 2 i put alarm but i only switch it off unknowingly. But after 2 i used to observe him he's like 2 mts sleep and next 1 mt also he'll be asleep but will be raising his legs.Again 5 mts sleep again raising legs. One thing is that he is still asleep even when he raises his legs?then i feed him at2 coz i think he's hungry. He then play for 30 mts and then sleep again when i wake up at 6 or 7 same thing raising legs and sleeping.AM worried for my son .
Please someone advice pleaseeeeee

just thought about raising the legs and burping ...

yes, one burp after feed may not be sufficient. My baby burps almost everytime she is held vertically!

Try burping him twice after feed (let him sleep, then hold on shoulder and try burping).

Secondly - raising legs may be due to colic pain. May be holding legs near stomach is giving him relief. Try putting a small pillow bellow his legs so that legs are folded and near the stomach.

Use the pillow only to check if it helps. Daily use of pillow not suggested as it may impact blood flow towards legs.

First of all ... i tried to imagine what u hv told abt the baby and could not stop smiling ... so cute of your baby! :)

I dont think you need to worry too much about this problem. I hv always used the \" elimination rule\" for the baby-problems-at-night.

I dont think ur baby is colic. If there was any problem like that, he will immidiately cry. Since babies cannot talk and express, God has gifted them good crying abilities + least tolerance!

1. May be he is wet ..? You will say u hv taken care of this .. check again .. is any cloth wet anywhere? even slightly? Some kids hate wet clothes.

2. I dont agree to what u said abt feeding less. Come on, wd u like to sleep half stomach? Please give him as much as he wants and then put to sleep. Try this.

3. May be he has had his sleep...?
At this age, the day/night pattern is not settled for the baby. The baby has slept a lot in the day so is awake at night. After you try above points, try this -
check babies schedule. There must be day time when baby plays for a while. Try changing it so that baby is awake for a good while before night-sleep. Then feed him fully and put to sleep.
(Please Do not keep him awake forcefully.)
Take him for a walk in late evening, hang toys above him, talk to him, play with him, etc to keep him awake. Also by doing this, the baby will get tired.

4. IF none above work, then try giving him a body massage with oil in evening. I am assuming u r giving one in the day before bath. Similarly, give one in evening (empty stomach) and wipe it off. Fold & press hands/legs slightly as they do during massage so that it relaxes his body. Winter is arriving, so you can also give dry hot fomentation on stomach/back/hands/legs(in hindi - sek dena).

5. Rock the baby's cradle so that he goes back to sleep. Babies need some stimulation to sleep.

If you think he is hungry/time to feed, then feed him.
But at this age, try \" teaching\" baby that nights are time for sleep. I suggest feed him at night only by demand. If u train him like this, by the time he is 4 months, he will sleep all night.

Dont worry - babies dont sleep empty stomach. :)

Lastly- if the baby is awake and playing - do not worry. IF the baby has problem, first thing he will do is cry.
So dont worry and continue YOUR sleep, let the baby play.
You too need sleep and rest. You know that.

I hv mentioned some rules above, use them one by one to eliminate factors. If nothing works, put a message again, i have more tips!

RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
