Hi,

Can you all please share with easy to make, quick recipes that are tasty too. I have a 7 month old baby who sleeps very late and keep getting up in the night. i don't get even 4 hrs of sleep and am too tired the next day. But i have nobody else to help me around in the house. So it becomes tough to cook, take care of the house and the baby. I am too exhausted. I need to prepare lunch too in the morning before my husband leaves for office to pack him lunch and for me too. I can't do much after he leaves as the baby wants me near her all the time. Can you please share with me some quick lunch and dinner recipes ? And if I prepare dosas in the evening how can i reheat it and keep it fresh for dinner ? Any suggestions will be helpful.

You can try these out :
1) Cut carrot, tomato, potato, beans, capsicum into small pieces (you can omit the ones you find difficult to peel or cut), take a few pieces of garlic ( or use a pinch of garlic paste that are readily available off the shelf). Cut onions into 4 pieces(simple cuts no frills). Put them all together with dal (I prefer musur dal- washed and cleaned),and put the mixture with some water, salt, a pinch of turmeric powder( optional)a table spoon of ghee, in a container inside a pressure cooker. Depending upon the vegetables , it may take 4-5 whistles for the dal to become soft. Take it out,eat as it is with roti or if time permits, fry some onion and add with the mixture. It is quite a filling item
2) Khichri - Put dal ( musur) -2 cups, rice - 2 cups (washed and clean), potato cubes (optional),big cauliflower pieces(optional), sprinkle peas, big onion pieces, teaspoonful of ginger paste, pieces of garlic(optional),bay leave ( as it is-one pc),garam masala ( either power one spoon or whole- a few pieces),salt, turmeric powder, add water to make it soft and soggy, put in a pressure cooker and wait for 4-5 whistles (will depend upon hardness of water and type of veg given). Pour it out and it is ready to eat with french fries(straight from the packet)

Subject:  sleep routine might help

HI Shirin,

I too faced the same pblm few months earlier... now that my daughter is 10 months old..her routines have fallen into a regular pattern
I am not good at cooking, so I will give U some solution with the sleep pblm.
First thing is to make a bed time routine...
Around 6:30-7 pm I will feed her, allow her to play with her dad for 30 min then a lukewarm bath followed by a small story ( thought she might not understand anything) then I will pat her to sleep. First few weeks it was hard either the baby would be fussy or something would come up and break the schedule.. but soon we fell in that pattern... Nowadays after bath as I dress her..she will start yawing...by 8pm she would be fast asleep.
Thought she wakes up 1-2 times at night ... some more pats will make her snooze off...
( My Dr suggested that I let her cry to sleep..tried that, my advice would be DON'T DO THAT ... ur daughter will learn to sleep soon)

And good luck in finding easy tasty recipies.

-Valli
