i hv heard from nannies and moms that a breast generally has 5 pores so you can see 5 streams/sprays of bm coming out while nursing the baby. I have not seen more than 3 sprays for myself.

i want to know -
what is the normal breast/breast pores/milk flow condition ?
how do i know that my breasts' pores are normal?
How do i know that milk is coming out with normal flow and force and baby is not spending longer time in nursing just because of some problem in breasts?

While feeding my baby, when suddenly the baby leaves it, i hv seen one single but thicker stream of milk oozing out, and it keeps oozing for some time. (I know this is because of the baby's sucking stimulus, but is that how it shd be?)
When i try to express milk, i sometimes see 2-3 thin streams/sprays, sometimes only 1.

Is this normal?

I tried asking my doc, she said if there were blocked pores, i wd have sufferred from problems, so there is nothing like that.

shaf Hetal replied. normal flow of breast milk is individual dpending on mothers capacity to produce milk..irrespective of how many pores are opened completely.
its not a matter of worry,unless you have felt discomfort or pain on your nipple about them getting hardening or getting sore to an extent that bm doesnt come out !
as far your baby is able to feel full and get a complete feed, your milk supply is said to be just perfect for your baby..it doesnt matter how many pores were funcitoning,,
and it dpends on baby sucking strenght, as to how good the pores are able to function,,in many case,,babies sucking style were the main reasons for other pores not functioning..
the number of pores working also depends on quantity and quality of milk,,,if its hind milk, you will find one or at the most 2 pores spraying good but thick line of bm or else if its foremilk,,its mostly all the 3-4-5pores depending on quantity...
and many mothers have experienced, that their milk fat was more and due to that even though 1-2-3 pores functioning, their babies were on exclusvie bf until 6months and lateron with solids,,they were bf until 1 year or more !!!
so it doesnt matter at all.,
just make sure that you are not having ne hardening feel on the nipples, or ne kind of discomfort and that your baby is able to get good milk out of you.
also to add there total number of opened pores actually depends on mothers own body structure,,on an average its around 5-6 or 8 poresin total and to the extent that they open !! you will be surprised to know that there are approx in total 15 pores !!
and yeah want to add, let your baby have to hind milk,it has a good fat level so when you baby leaves and you are seeing 1 stroke of spray,try to latch him again or pump the milk until your bm stops coming ! this will ensure all the gathering of hindmilk and it will empty your breast completely,,thus increasing your supply in longer run !!!!!
