Do you smoke? Do you think the incidence of smoking is increasing? Why do you think people smoke? Have you tried to quit? Does anyone in your family smoke? Do you get irritated by passive smoking?

Natalie replied. people who smoke are simply addicts...nothing to do with stress-thats just an excuse
hey presto replied. Someone here has asked about other stress relievers. There are so many - yoga, meditation, soft music, dance, diary writing, playing with children, singing, exercise, walking, body massages, steam and sauna... And managing stress is an art. The basis lies in enjoying and appreciating life.
Hot stuff replied. Hey this article reminded me of an ad for not smoking where it mimicks the Malboro man standing next to a dead horse and some copy for passive smoking. Really cool stuff that. I don' t take a stand on smoking, dont do it personally just wish people would smoke at home and not at office or in public areas.
Smokin Joe replied. I smoke. So? National crime? It' s my wish man. And so far, lemme tell u, I' ve enever experiened all the orrible thingies mentioned in th aitcle. No freedom in this word. And passive smokin is nonsense cos I live alone n I dont smoke in pubkic transporr or anythin. A ciagarette a day keeps the blues away!
Jen replied. I don' t agree that smokers don' t have the sense to understand the enormity of their mistake. One of my friends, a once-smoker was horrified when I told him that there are 4000 chemicals in cgarettes including rat posion, toilet cleaner etc. etc. He managed to quit successfully. Many people know only one thing about smoking - that it is injurious to health. I think the article will help people realise exactly how it is injurious. After reading all that, I feel happier than ever that I don' t smoke.
Slayer replied. Dude, it ain' t dat easee 2 quit. I no coz I hav tried for yrs!
pink_lungs replied. good article. but unfortunately if smokers had the sense to underatand these things they wouldnt have started smoking in the fisrt palce.
THe only solutin is BAN SMOKING. if the govt. can ban gutka and tobacco chewing why not smoking. at least tobacco chewing does not harm others around but smokers are a scourge who pollute the atmosphere

Agreed. But then cars and industries do serve a proper purpose. You do have pros and cons for everything. But smoking doesn´ t have any practical use. All it has are disadvantages. Its a selfish and destructive habit.

Liste, bud, I have no problem if you go and get drunk. But I do have a problem if that makes you run me over while I´ m crossing the street with your drunken driving. I do have a problem if that incites you to vandalise the nearest building. Similarly, the world is better off if you die your slow, noxious death with smoking. But hey, why should I bear the consequences as well with second hand smoke? Why should your family suffer cos of yuor smoky addiction? Why should hospitals waste their resources in treating your lung cancer when there are people more in need of attention? Now do you get why we don´ t have a ban on ´ sanctimoniousness´ ? Go, get some sense knocked into your silly head. You have a responsibility towards yourself and the world. I may not have the right to dictate the duties to yourself. But I do have a right to protect myself from your weaknesses.

I was at a workshop the other day on stress management and the person actually said that smoking helps in reducing stress! His focus was on the negative aspects of stress in life...I was astonished when he said it, he agreed about the negative effects of smoking but his point was for a person with that kind of stress level some sort of stress reliever is needed if they didnt smoke then they were going to be in deep trouble without any other kind of relief

Gimme a break man. The argument is hilarious. the person holding the workshop is a smoker for sure. They can come up with the most absurd arguments. Must have somethingf to do with their nicotine overloaded brains.

Wouldn´ t it be nice if they had something like smoking booths like they have phone booths and public toilets. Or smoke lounges perhaps now thats an idea to make money from especially if the govt bans smoking.....

Yeah I used to work for this ad agency. A small agency I found that people used to come into the creative department and light up, just because it was next to a balcony. It was so bad the place used to reek of smoke.
