Due Date Club October 2003:New to the group

Hi,

Just joined this group a couple of weeks ago and find it really useful and supportive:)
I'm Sonali and I live in Bangalore. This is my first pregancy and I'm in the 24th week. My due date is Oct 18th.

I had a couple of concerns and was wondering if any of you could help.

I just had a check up with my gynaec yesterday and she found my blood pressure to be LOW at 96/70. It was normal at last month's check up. She said low BP was normal. I was wondering if this has happened to any of you too?

Another concern I had was about the movements. I feel the baby moving about 60% - 70% of the time in a24 hr time frame, even in the night it wakes me up sometime. Though this is fun and I do enjoy it, the doc said too much movement may sometimes lead to the umbilical cord winding around the neck and it could be dangerous. Just wanted to know how much movement some of you feel.

Regards,

Sonali

Welcome to this group..Ur BP seems fine, I have always had BP as 110/70. Have asked the doctor the first time and he said its fine too, its the difference that matters..so u r fine..its high BP that one should worry about..ur range is fine.
As for movements, I am one week ahead of u so movements definitely more now than last week, but 24th week used to feel movements generally more at night after dinner or if seated in one place and not much of movement for long, moving around rocks the baby so won't be kicking as much..don't think the cord will wind its supposed to be very strong unless baby is somersaulting in there so often. :)
DOn't worry, I am sure baby is fine, if u still have a doubt u can request for an ultrasound easily back home in India, in US i feel u/s not done so frequently.
Generally we are asked to count the number of kicks after 27th week should be not less than 10 kicks/taps/movement in an hour or two.
I am sure ur baby is fine..
Relax and enjoy the time..
Radhika
