Miscarriage and Child Loss:4 weeks pregnant and bleeding

Hi, my fiance and I are 4 weeks pregnant. The last few days she has been complaining of feeling bloated and very gassy. Today we went for a two mile walk and the symptoms got worse about a mile into the walk. She thought that she just had to go to the bathroom. When we got home she used the bathroom and noticed that she started bleeding very lightly. As an hour progressed the blood got darker and ran more. We went to the doctor for a blood test and her hormone level was 88. We came home and the bleeding continued and the cramping got worse. I took her to the hospital emergency room where she was seen by the doctor and given an ultrasound. They said the ultrasound did not show anything because its to early. I am very worried as is she. Is it common to bleed during in the 4th week of pregnancy? Does it mean that she is having a miscarriage? If it is not a miscarriage what do you think that it is? implantation? Twins?

I think you should follow rs' s advice and take it easy for the next few weeks. In the earliest stages of pegnancy as you are now, there is little dr' s can do to prevent a loss should it occur so the mother needs to be extra careful. Given that walking has set off a bleeding incident I' d be cautious about avoiding walking or taking shorter ones. What you are describing does not sound like an implantation bleed, that is usually more like spotting, and it doesn' t increase in volume or darken in colour generally. Rest yourself for the next few weeks and report any changes to your doc or ob/gyn...

RE:Coping With a Miscarriage
Infertility is a very hard thing to hit a woman. I can't imagine what it must be like. My sister went through it. She was told that she was infertile by her doctor. Her husband was a doctor too, but besides all the knowledge they could do nothing. Then they tried going for IVF. At first they were resistant, they were double minded. But then my sister went to various fertil... - Lillian [View Message]

RE:Coping With a Miscarriage
Hey! I hope you are doing well. Miscarriages are a terrible thing that can happen to a family. It is like your dream of having a child and the next moment it is all gone. There are various reasons why miscarriages happen. But I do not think that miscarriages should affect the relationship. It is the responsibility of the husband to understand that no one is at fault. RE:Three miscarriages in a year...
Hey Richa, hope you are doing well. I am sorry to hear about it.I know what you have gone through. Toughest period is when one is TTC.The worst part is the miscarriages and 3 of them makes it even more hard to cope with. I agree with your husband and would advice you to take a break also. Try to regain your health.Rushing into things wont solve them. Consult a specialist a... - katherine [View Message]
