I have a one month old baby.For the past one week, she has been fussy about drinking milk. She feeds only for 5 mins and falls asleep, or, simply refuses to have more , for the next 3 hrs or so. She puts out her tongue, and , always seems to be trying to bring the flum out. I feel that her throat is blocked, so, she can't drink. My doctor is treating her for cold, giving nasal drops and all, but, it isn't reducing at all. I feel that, she would be lot better, if I am able to bring out all the flum from her throat. Any one faced this problem ? While cold is pretty normal, it might take time to cure. But, how would I make her drink my milk(She isn't sucking for long, and is not even taking from spoon. She looks tired all the time, and, I am worried.. swapna replied. Thanx harsh, even my doctor advised the same. i gave her steam for every 4-5 hours,and put naso clear to ease the congestion, and, feeding after that.. She drank normally.. continued this for 2 days.. and, things have improved. And, Riya, please don't put ur finger in her mouth.. i hate to do that.. some people do it, but, ur baby will start crying and vomiting.. better use steam, to clear the blocked nose, and then, use some medicine to clear out the flem (wash it down to the stomach and let it go while she passes motions).. I dont know whether u get it in US, but, mucolite helps..
My baby is now lot better. Ana replied. The same thing happened to my brother's son. My sister-in-law pumped the milk and try to give. But the baby had lot of flum in his throat. So the baby will vomitt as soon as he drink. But after 2 months everyhthing was fine. And today the baby is in good health. So don't worry everything pass by. harsh replied. hi swapna..........i m harsh..if ur bay is not taking fed and her throat is choked.give the baby steam which will open her throat. take a steamer sit on the side of the bed...and put the steamer on the ground in such a way that steam comes to u take baby in ur arms with baby facing the earth ...take any towel on you....the steam coming up will be enough for the baby....dont take the bay out after steam for half an hour....and 2 times a day give steam it will help baby to breath easy and afterwards taking milk..........
just try and tell me wheteher it helped or not.

I'm Ashwini here, I am mother of 1year son. Even my son was doing the same thing when he was a month or 2 month old. So I was very worried and asked my gynecologist. So she told that the babies in that age won't be having strenght to suck the milk. So when the baby feel tired they sleep off there itself. They'll be able to suck milk fully only after they are 3 months or so.
And regarding the flum, I think u can ask any elderly people at home to to take of flum the throat. Usually they do it.

I am mother of 2 months old, i m facing same problem, even my baby is avoiding milk and she keeps crying cause she is hungry and at the same time she is not able to drink milk. and becoz of empty stomach she is unable to sleep. I am staying in US and all alone. My mother in law told me that u have to put finger in the babies mouth and pull the flum out, this is usually done during bathing the baby.
For doing this u need real expertise..cause if u go wrong somewhere baby might suffer fever or might get scared. I m not sure how true is this... i have not tried.

I asked doctor, but no answer... she said it will go on its own... Even i m worried. Please help us.
