My son is 2.3 yrs and he has recently started going to a play school. His date of birth is 30th Sept. 1999 and he would be eligible to go to a proper school from next session. Can you please share with me your experience as to what is the right age for sending the child for school. Should I send him in the coming session or wait for one more year.

Smita Shreya replied. Smita, I'm in the UAE ..and her ethe entry age for a kid into KG-1 is 3 years and not 4 years , like in India. Initially, even I felt that 3 years was too early to start regular schooling.But remember, our children CANNOT be like us..they are far more knowledgeable and well aware than we were. So, I guess its best to keep them in the rat race than get left behind !! We'll try to give them our childhood AFTER school hours !!! What says ? AN replied. Dear Sister,

My Son will be 3 years old by next year. Same doubt has been arised in mind also.
When I think about my early school days, I feel that children must get relaxed and
should get caring from their parents, when they are 3 or 4 years old. So, even
in play school, they are treating the children to learn discipline. That means, instead of
getting attention and care they are loosing their freedom. In nurseries, they are teaching
lot of things in the early age.
I feel that Parents should give some freedom to children and let them to play. But, If
we do not send them in LKG or UKG, it is difficult to get admission in STD 1 and our
children will be backward in their education. So, still I am confused. So decide what, most
of our society doing. (Cursing the Society Standards! LOL)
