I have 5 mths old twins. They are doing very well. I have started them on dal-chaval mash and ragi porridge.
Can any of you suggest what I should feed my babies in the evening so that they have their tummies full and will sleep abt 7-8 hrs at a stretch in the night?
my hubby n me take care of one baby each in the night...but i try to relieve him as much as possible by trying to feed both babies myself during the night.
but i start working myself next week and would really look forward to 7hrs of good sleep.
Right now both of them wake up 2 times during hte night for feeds and we have to spend time to put them off to sleep again.
Waiting for all your replies.

Twin'sMom replied. I am mother of ~7 month old twins, I went back to work when they were 4 months.
BOth of them still wake up at night, and I feed both of them at night. Does your kids share the same bed with you ? If so, try breast feeding them lying down so that you don't have to get up.
Also, if your kids sleep early, pick them up and feed them before you go to sleep. This will delay their getting up in the middle of night.
Try giving them water instead of milk,
All the best...
Hetal replied. hi, it must be hard to take of them together.
about sleeping, some babies start sleeping well as early as 4 months, some take a while to get into schedule. for a good night sleep, if their sleeping time is 9 at night, feed them good with solids (watever you are giving), at 7 and after that dont let them sleep, until their bedtime.play with them. 5 month babies do play. also, give them a good bathe at the time of their sleep.stick to the timings.feed them well with total feeds before their sleep. also, the concept that young infants sleep well when they full to their tummies is not proved yet.it has worked for some babies and other babies have ended up having tummy upset..so listen to your baby signs of comfort first !!!!!
and dont worry if baby still gets up.babies at 5months, 8th month, or whenever they are mving new stage of maturity or major growth cycle, go thru growth spurt.in that even if you feed him nicely, they will demand more !
however, babies ABOVE 6 months do need to feed at night. its ok if they ask for feeds upto 6 full months. after 6 full months, if they ask for feeds at night, you can start replacing water at night. they often get confused with thirst and hungerr..but at 5 months, its ok to feed.
this is a general feed schedule for 5 month old -
5–6 months Breast milk: on demand
OR Iron-fortified formula: 4–5 feedings of 6–8 ounces each.
4–6 months (in case you have started solids at 4th month)Infant cereal: 4–8 tablespoons, mixed cereal (barley, millet, wheat, oatflour)can be started.
Infant juice: 2–4 ounces (¼ to ½ cup, from cup only to start your baby with weaning, soon after 4 months you will be weaning them completely to bottle or cup. also you can start with spoon feeding the juice or cup to train baby. try offering the juice of the fruits that you have already introduced. mix the pulp with water to the ratio of 1pulp:5water.
meat cannot be started as early as 5 months, wait until 6 months complete.
and right now your baby should get fruits and vegetables each 1tablespoon thru out the day.
go to gerber dot come for great ideas about feeding..they have nice feeding plans too.
dal chawal and ragi porridge is equivalent enough to infant cereals so continue that,,start introducing vegies and fruits.ragi is a great to give !
njoy with little twins :)

My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. Could you please provide me with more ideas that can promote better sleep for her?... - Sanchari Tarafdar [View Message]

RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
