Breastfeeding:Travelling tips??

Hi Friends,

I'm going to India in the last week of this month so right now i'm very confused 'bout what things i should take with me...Can u pls help me in making the list of most important things. Also i'm very worried 'bout Flying with my daughter coz she is just 5 months old by that time so if u can give me some travelling tips it would be a great help for me. I've 2-3 questions in my mind which is bothering me a lot..

1. Should i take stroller with me or buy snuggli for travel coz i'm going with my hubby but he is coming back early & i'm coming back a month later so at that time i would be travelling alone with my daughter & she would be 8 month old by that time.

2. The 2nd concern is 'bout diapers. Because i'm going for almost 3 months so should i take the whole supply of diapers with me or i can buy from there too. Is there any difference in quality of diapers in India & here..

3. And what type of medication i should take with me for my daughter ?

I'm very confused ..pls help me out & if u think 'bout something else which is very important pls let me know. Pls help me in making list for travelling...

Thanks..
khushi

Hi Kushi,
I agree with what Aboli ans Casper said here about the stroller and food and stuff like that.
But be sure to check with your baby's doctor before you make this trip. Because babies are due to get 3 vac. shots on their 6 month check-up!
Happy Journey!

Dear Khushi,
It depends on where you are going in India. As casper said, you can get huggies in India too, but the quality is for sure not as good as here. But you might not want to load your luggage with diapers. At places like Mumbai and Bangalor, you can buy diapers from the imported markets. It might cost a bit more than here, but it is worth it. Moreover, from my personal experience, in India, most of the elders are against using diapers. You may want to use disposable diapers while travelling and at home you can use nappies.
Now that your daughter is almost 5 months, you might have started with the solids, so don't worry much about the food. You can give her mashed fruits and some home made cereals and khichadis.
About stroller, it again depends on where exactly you are going. In small towns, the stroller is usually of no help. But on airports, it will be useful.
You better check with your paediatrician about the medication and shots.
You may want to keep some Gerber food for emergency.
That is all I can think of as of now.

Love,
Aboli.

I would suggest taking an umbrella stroller with you. I am not sure if snugli would work for an 7-8 month old baby.

If you are in Bombay, I have heard you get (Huggies) diapers at Crawford Market. Not sure if they are available else where. Also do not know on the quality. I would like to know this too! :)

Medications:
Tylenol fever.
Benadryl for allergies.
Robittusin cold and fever.
Any diaper rash balm.
Sun screen.

Also, you might want to think of taking along her cereals, bottles, sippy cups.

Hope this helps. Take Care.

RE:Adult breast feeding
I was not breastfeed in my childhood hence the idea of sucking and feeding from a woman's full, engorged breasts has infatuated me.
