Waiting to try:Hi Archie

Hi Archie,

We are glad to have you on this board. Its very comforting to know that we can share our concerns with you.

Last month I ovulated between 26 and 28. We were ttc during those days. 2-3 days after that I started experiencing severe abdominal cramps, feeling really fatigued. The cramps were similar to the ones I get on the first day of my period. Reading all the symptoms of pregnancy, I really thought we might be on our family way. Then after one week my breast became very sore and tender, walking without hurting them became an issue . Then I noticed blue lines on my breasts and the nipple area became darker and I feel they looked bigger than normal. As and when I observed these changes, I checked to see if they are pregnancy related. We were just crossing our fingers to cross the expected period date to do a HPT. The first test came -ve and suddenly my health deteriorated and was diagnosed as dehydrated.

May be I was reading too much in to all these symptoms. From past few cycles I have observed that my second half of cycle is very tiring. Its as if my whole system is fighting against something foreign and don't want it inside me.

Last month was our first try and know that it was too early to expect something so soon, but yet the symptoms made me believe that I might be pregnant.

Is it normal to have pregnancy symptoms without being pregnant?

Thanks

Nemo.

Dear Nemo,
Second half of cycle is controlled by Progesterone and so is a major pregnancy player. So called PMS mimic symptoms of early pregnancy. What you observed could be pregnancy or PMS, all is a result of progesterone. But this tells you that your body is responding to the process.
Keep relaxed and plan intercourse around ovulation.
Yes, abdominal cramps is very much likely and feeling that period is anytime due but not experiencing is one of the pregnancy signs.

Did you test again or you got periods. many time it happens that due to high stress and dehydration you won't get implantation perfectly happening, so keeping relaxed and drinking plenty of water is good idea in second half of cycle. Take rest if you see these symptoms.

however, many times while ttc we monitor symptoms closely and read them slightly above the limits. I am not an exception, I did that too:)

Good luck

Dear Nemo,
With a rare possibility girls can experience period on expected schedule although she is pregnant. It's little difficult to imagine that one would need series of blood test to detect pregnancy. It's very sensitive method. Moreover any healthy pregnancy should detect in first blood report. NOt discouraging but just giving information.
Thus there is almost neglegible or slim possibility like you mentioned.

Thanks Archie for clearing my concerns.

Congratulations to you and your husband on arrival of your new born baby :)

I got my periods this time, but it was on the lighter side and not accompanied by the usual first day cramps. A blood test also confirmed that I am not pregnant.

I have read some posts on other sites where few women had to take more than 2-3 blood tests to confirm they are pregnant while they continued to get their periods. Can this happen?

Nemo.
