Hi Kamalika,
Congrats. Though there is less risk for normal pregnancy, but Doctors suggests not to travel during first trimester. I am now 23 rd week & due in Sept last week, living in Saudi Arabia.
I travelled safely. If u have no other options, put a pillow on ur tummy & then fasten seat belt. Drink lot of water & juices to avoid dehydration. Don't sit for long time, stand & walk in between. Before flying, don't forget to take all medicines in ur handbag & consult ur Dr.
Best of luck. Have a safe & nice flight.

Congrats! am on my 10th week, am in US. i have also planned to go to India. But as Jessie said, its safe to travel during ur second trimester, as ur morning sickness and nausea will be reduced much. before ur trip u have a prenatal check-up and also take a copy of ur medical records, which may help in emergency.

In a perfectly normal pregnancy, air travelling should be ok in the earlier months of pregnancy.Normally doctors donot advice you to travel by air long distance only in the last 6 weeks of pregnancy.
I have read in books and articles where it says if u have high blood pressure or if u have had a miscarriage earlier,or bleeding then air travelling may not be advisable.
Since people get normally dehydrated in plane, make sure u drink lot of water in plane.
My doc has told me to inform her in advance incase i plan to travel by air anywhere.Take your doc's advice.
