Breastfeeding:Hetal or anyone please advice. i am confused.

Hetal or anyone could please help me with this.

i just read somewhere that quality of pump matters alot for the good supply of bm, is it true. what kind of pumps are best. i read medella is the best one but its so expensive. even second hand motor itself was of price 100$. i can not afford to buy that expensive pump. also i am soon planning to visit india and i am right now using first years electronic pump.i have not faced problems so far. but will it reduce my milk supply in later stage. after reading prev post i am bit scared about it. right now my baby is 6months and i am able to pump good milk for him. touch wood but will pump reduce my supply in future. i want to continue expressing milk upto 1 year.
i also bf my baby once in night. my supply had remarkably gone down at 4th month onwards so my ped adviced me to pump at every 4 hours and restablish the milk supply.and also he added some of tips that hetal and ruchi had mentioned has said that stay relaxed, remain stressfree, eat healthy food, eat fenugreek, dalia.my ped is indian dr.so i had started pumping every 4 hours and by 6th month my milk suppy was good enough that i am able to produce good for him.
also i plan to stop his night feeds. my dr said that its not advisable to make your baby get habituated to night feeds. he also warned me that it will be difficult for me in weaning if i continue doing so.
he also added that 6months old baby does not require feeds at night and should be able to sleep through out night with or without solids.and i read in prev post that at 6months we can restablish nursing. so am badly confused now.should i continue my trials to stop his feeds at night. if i do so, will he miss his feed and remain hungry. should i restablish nursing and give up bottle as now milk supply has increased.
one more thing my dr said is babies after 6months need solids and so i was recommended to start solids at 6months onwards. in first couple days, he refused in taking solids and my dr told me to somehow make him eat and start solids. after a week i succeeded and now my baby is eating well.
in prev post, rebecca mentioned that babies can do fine if cut back on solids. my dr told me just the opposite. he told me i should not worry if my baby drinks upto 5oz milk less as far as he is eating well according to the feeding chart that he gave me.
he is drinking well upto 30oz of bm with one time solids.

please clear my doubt.i am really confused after reading the previous post.I am living alone and it is difficult for me to make decisions without any parental guidance. people in india do not understand these things. so i cannot even share with anyone. please i am very confused. please clear my confusion.

Thanks.

I was really worried when i read your post.
I do not know why you keep clarifying and explaining your own suggestions in all boards.
These type of replies confuses people like me who are new to motherhood & baby care.
Please understand that whatever you are sharing atleast does not confuse people.I would appreciate help but not confusion.
Sorry about being annoyed with you, but it really worried me.

Subject:  Clarification

I think in my eagerness to share I have been both a bit unclear and come off as more of an authority than I am or want to appear. I guess I was just a little too excited to find an outlet for all the information I have been absorbing as a new mom. 1) pumps. I didn't mean that the pump would REDUCE the supply, but that the pump may not be effective in getting the supply out. I have several friends who got next to nothing with a hand pump. I had problems with breast infections and was encouraged to buy an expensive electric pump (I almost had a heart attack when I saw the price, but it has been very good). Then again, my neighbor used a hand pump for more than a year - and used it daily - with NO PROBLEM. If the pump you have is working for you, I certainly wouldn't change it.
I personally adhear to the philosophy (note philosophy, not rule) of feeding on demand day or night. That is what I do with my 6 month old. If weaning (whenever I decide to do it)takes a few weeks or months longer, than so be it. It is a personal decision. I will be interested in hearing other's perspectives, but I think it is important that you go with your mommy instinct on that one.
Solids, clarification. WHO, UNICEF, the American Academy of Pediatrics and many more reputed organizations recommend exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months and the addition of solids at 6 months (this is based on a new wealth of research about babies bodies and about allergies). Some people do more than one feed a day at 6 months, but my understanding is that 1 feed of solids is sufficient and that milk (breast or formula) should still be the primary source of nutrition at that age (around 32 oz a day, more or less,so your 30 sounds perfect). I also have some friends who have decided to delay introduction of solids a bit (one for 2 weeks, one for 1.5 months - until 7.5 months) in one case because baby wasn't interested and in another case because of family allergies. In both cases the babies did fine (both were bf). THey did this in consultation with the pediatrician.

Lastly, I am really sorry if I confused you. I am going to be much more careful, and perhaps a little more conservative with my sharing.

I also just want to tell you how impressed I am that you are living alone and doing this. You're a star! And it seems from what you have written that you are doing a fantastic job! I have several friends who are single moms and I know it is not easy to do it alone (whether without partner at all or partner living far away). Hang in there. In admiration. Rebecca

RE:Adult breast feeding
I was not breastfeed in my childhood hence the idea of sucking and feeding from a woman's full, engorged breasts has infatuated me. It is a fantasy that drives me wild like nothing else, just the thought of laying my head in a woman's lap while she brings her swollen nipples to my mouth.
