I am a regular visitor of this board and I experience an unusual problem.

I am a widow of 30, who lost my husband due to accident after 3 yrs of marriage. I have a boy of 7 yrs, studying in class 2.

My son was weaned at the age of one and half years. But, he has a different problem.
At times during our sleep, he used to suckle my breasts over my cloths. Sometimes he even tries to pull out my breast with his hands. All these he does at night (in sleep) only…and he is not fully awake that time.

Even though my breasts doesn’t secrete anything, if I BF him for a while, he’ll slip into deep sleep.

He takes food of all type…and he is very healthy too. I am embarrassed to ask anything about this to him or to any doctors. Is this a psychological problem…or something else…anybody with similar experience...I worry wether this character develop as and when he grews older.... Please HELP.

Hetal replied. he was weaned very late, thats y he happens to make it a habit. you will have to stop making him sleep with you. secondly, your son doesnt know whehter or not is good for him to do so, or is a good habit or not. once you stop sleeping with him, he will realise that he was doing something in sleep !
the other thing, that now your boy is of 7years, and he is still continuing this habit that you have continued..stop him doing that, put a pillow between you and your son and let himsleep with that..
eventually he might try to suck cloth and then since the taste and the texture of the surface is different, there would not be any reason for him to continue bf.
the reasons why dr advice moms to wean as early as 1 year is now that kids has started understanding alot of things that they arent supposed to understand and not only that, and watever they continue from 1 year onwards often becomes his habit.
now that you are in it ! try stopping it neways,,make him sleep seperately, now that he will be a b teenage,,stop as soon as possible,,you dont want him to enter his teenage life with this thing !!!

good luck weird replied. i have heard thiz sot of problem with almost 50% of widows...like son's bathing with moms n mom dressing in front of son.BF ing more than 5 yrs .but if u didnot stop BFing him right now i am sure u will face difficulties in future...poeple will blame u n there will n a big question mark with ur son..as u said that he iz doing it in half sleep why cant u divert his action like pat his back,comb his forehead etc??try it instead of offering ur B to him..
