my daughter is 23month old and she is an active kid. She speaks very good,can tell some of the nursure rhymes, even she knows certain shapes like circle, triangle etc.She likes to play with our friends who are familiar to her. I take her to library for story telling class and she goes to a day care for 3 hrs 2 days a week. She is learning lot of things there. But if you see her outside with all new faces it does seem like she can't talk, she doesn't know anything...She hides behind me.She doesn't play with other kids.
Is this a serious problem ?? Do i need to talk to doctor ?? I'm really worried about her. reena replied. dear diya,

i don't think u should be worried because 23 months means ur child is still very small. even my daughter who is 3 1/2 is very shy. in the sense she plays with her own friends but with new children she does not mix around. i feel what u are doing is right like library and day care centre. i can suggest u one more thing is if your child does not mix around try and organize a childrens gettogether atleast once a week. or send her to your friends place to play . but the idea of inviting your child's friends will really work. try and make them play games etc.
