Warning about a play/preschool in Bangalore!! - Nurseries and Schools Discussion Forum

Hello parents,
I want to warn you about a play/preschool in Bangalore, it is \";Gintara\";. They have one in RT Nagar and new one (3m old) on Sarajapur road. I was a parent there and pulled my kid out due to safety issues and founders attitude towards a child & parent. Here are some points that might help you folks.
- their staff is not capable of handling small chidren and there were few incidents (including my child) of negligence which caused medical attention.
- Do not get fooled by their new building and equipment. Staff matters a lot since your child will be in their care all the time.
- founders lure you in getting into their school saying open door policy, international standards etc.. but they do not deliver what they promise.
Few moms (including myself) have already dropped out of Gintara.

I can give you more specifics, for those who are interested you are free to contact me.

I would suggest to parents to do thorough research and lot of interaction with school staff before you make any decision for your little ones.

We are new to Bangalore and don't have much idea about a good day care centre here and were planning to look for Gintara. Could you please suggest us some good cretch or play centre near BTM, Jayanagar, kormangala, HSR

As a parent, Padma Uvuluru had come to Gintara after pulling her child out from other preschools citing similar issues of safety. She wanted to work as a preschool teacher at Gintara but we were unable to offer her a post because she was not suitably qualified or stable in her interactions with the staff or chldren. Due to this, her various emails to us were mainly objections to the fee structure and demanding a a reduction of the same after enrolment of her child. These can be proved at any point in time.
We are not sorry to see her go but our sympathies are with the child who is forced to endure the mother's inconsistencies for no fault of her own.
We wish Padma's next choice of school the best of luck!

suggestion for playschool

Hi Pooja,
How old is your daughter and where did you move from? that way I know what your expectations would be. I would have to say in Bangalore choices for a good quality daycare or playcenter is limited. As lot of of my friends who moved from bombay & delhi & abroad are saying that Bangalore has to catch up a lot on child care services. Most of them are just trying to make quick money and giving less importance to who they hire (mainly teenager, high school drop outs, maid/servant kind of people with little to none experience and training), hygiene & safety. But yes, lot of parents still send their kids to these center as they feel they do not have a choice. Hence at the end of the day it is your choice to take risk.

So, I would strongly say stay away from Gintara & Kangaroo kids in Indira Nagar though they might lure you into new building, tools that they can offer. Important thing is for a child to be in safe, experienced hands.

As for BTM, HSR area, I believe "Stepping Stones" is pretty good. I know that lady who started it and she moved from US with lot of experience and they deliver what they promise. But they might take kids from 2-1/2+ or so. Do check with them. I know they were planning on introducing for early yrs as well. There are some Euro kids branches which are good. There is one in Koramangala.
BUt again, make sure you spend some time w/ teachers and get a feel for the management's attitude.

You are welcome. Well, you can see the response of one of Gintara's directors. It is sad to see their stories about me joining their school etc. Gintara is the one approching parents to start schools and begging them for funds. No parent including myself approached them to join their faculty. They are talking total nonsense now that their stories are out. So, I just feel sorry for them.

Nina, you can rest yourself and sort your differences with your partner, and I pity you since you are just a puppet in her hands. Good luck to you!!

Believe me, parents including myself have million choices when it comes to our kid's future. Your problem is thinking that you are the best when you know your faults.

Parents, feel free to send me notes (as some of you did) for more detailed instances with Gintara and I am more than happy to provide other parent's contacts who are willing to talk as well.
