I've a 15 weeks old boy and he is having eczema on his cheeks. The ped suggested to use steriod cream intermittently. When I use the cream , the outbreak is becoming a bit better and ionce I stop using it , it flares up again.
Does anybody have any suggestions for imrpoving the skin conditions.
I heard that it is common in most of the indian babies in US. Does any one of you heard about ezcema ? If so does it go away eventually or it stays life long ?

Mansi. mom replied. I am a mom of a toddler who has eczema since he was 5 months old. His eczema is cause of food allergies (milk, wheat, egg, tree nuts, citic food). So please watch if you are giving milk-based formula bcos my son started getting eczema when switched to Similac. Talk to ur ped.Applying steoid creams is a very temporary solution that solves the skin condition but he/she will get it again if food is the problem. We are having horrible times coping with my son's food allergy SO PLEASE dont take it lightly. Talk to ur ped - if milk based formula is a problem ask if you can give soy milk (some kids are allergic to soy too). My son's eczema vanished once switched to soy milk but returned as we started giving Gerber food. Anything with citric acid as preservative caused a flare-up (gerber bananas, mixed fruits etc). when starting foods be VERY slow and do not experiment everyday. I am pretty sure ur child is food-allergic and am warning you as we are having tough times. My son is now 2.5 yrs old and we face a problem as to how to take care of him. We dint have ANY knowledge of food allergies and now with 2 yrs of struggle have learnt a lot of allergies and asthma (which follows).

You can make this solution by adding Potessium Permagnate to water.

It generally kill germs & cure skin problems.

I had a similar query a few months ago concerning eczema occuring in toddlers. As far as I know, it can be due to a varrying number of factors and common foods that end up causing the condition in 1-2 year old toddlers.
