My son seems to be getting a cough all the time, I would say atleast once oin 3 weeks! And I just don't know what to do. The doctos day it is a viral, which then leads to a bacterial infection, so each time I have to give him antibiotics. In the last 6 months I have given him antibiotics atleast 4 times. As Jaya has mentioned earlier UR child might be sensitive and allergic to some things which u should observe & avoid taking him to polluted places etc; but as u have said that u r giving him antibiotics quite often should be avoided as it will not help him but will make him immune to them. Rather than giving medicines first try home remedies for his cough give him (some ginger juice, pinch of turmeric, some tulsi juice mixed in 1 tbsp of honey. I saw your question.There is one remedy I have implemented for my son.Take few Ajwain(mint seeds) and same qty of salt in a handkerchief and make a knot at the top then make it hot on iron box and put it on your son's chest everyday night after he goes to sleep.make sure he is wearing one layer of t-shirt or some shirt before doing this.and also it should not hurt him if it does don't heat that potli..(the handkerchief of mint seeds and salt) too much.
This will relieves cough as well as kill the germs that might cause him cold and cough.
I have more remedy for cough.

This is a common cause of throat infection for kids. Jaya replied. I don't know where you live, but it is also happening to my son, and the docto's say it is becasue of pollution in Bombay. What they have suggested is that I keep my son away from polluted places, keep my windows up while driving, don't use any strong perfumes or agarbatis, and keep my carpets absolutely dust-free. Also, stuffed toys are a coimpletely NO-No! becaseu they gather dust the most. I have also found that my son keeps much better if I don't keep the AC on. (there is alot of duct coming through the vent becasue the pigeons love to dance on it!).
