Reading habit is a good habit but it should be encouraged not only at home but also in the Schools. My Son studies at Greenwood High School and the school has really brought about a change in him by encouraging him to not only read his school books but also a larger collecting of books which are in their library.

At home reading activities should be casual, creative and stress-free. Reading can be encouraged while cooking and shopping also. let the child read the recipe out-loud and When shopping, let them read the circulars, food labels, before selecting the right one.

reading makes kids smarter and keeps him sharp; it boosts analytical skills and increases vocabulary; it also improves writing skills and memory. What I do is I leave a newspaper on the counter and ask my kid to read it to me.
