Q: Cucumber juice is essentially cooling and soothing, and it has mild bleaching properties. Apply it daily to your dark circles, and you will see a difference. However, this is not a permanent remedy. Read this article on Dark Circles for more information, click here. Shilpa (Pune,

A: Does applying cucumber juice in cotton help to get rid of dark circles? |
Q: When I get ready
in the morning, I put in my colored contact lenses. My eyes in the morning
are sparkling, not dark, and look great. But then after coming home from
work after 7 hours, my eyelids are dark, puffy, and oily. Is there anything
that is going wrong? Could it be that I am allergic to colored contacts?
I want my eyelids too look fresh and sparkling throughout the day. Thanks. Raju (Pune,
) |
A: You should ideally speak to an eye doctor to find out why your eyes react in this manner to contacts. It is however natural for eyelids to appear darker and oily by the end of the day - I don't know the extent of your problem. Consider simply washing your face during the day. Also, try applying cucumber slices on your lids after returning home from work everyday, to sooth your eyes. If you wear coloured contacts but don't have a number, I suggest you wear them only when going out at night, for a few hours. |
Q: Are there any brands of eye cream that you can recommend, with
so many to choose from how do you know which ones contain the right ingredient
for dark circles under the eys. I am 26. Sunny (Pune,
) |
A: Different brands suit different people. It also depends where you live, and which brands are available. Clinique is good. The best thing for you to do would be to request for samples and try them out. Try out those creams that are especially formulated to combat dark cirlces, instead of regular under-eye creams. |

Q: I hav got dark circles do tel me how to apply cucumber juice in detail. I am using loreal under eye cream in morning. Do reply me in detail Shikha (Mumbai, India) |
A: Just mash a cucumber, with the skin still on it, and apply the juice to your face. Leave it on for at least fifteen minutes, and then wash off. Also, make sure you drink enough water, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep. |
Q: Hi what is concealer and why it is used ?? Monica (Mumbai, India) |
A: Concealor essentially covers any dark spots on your face and evens out your skin tone. It 'conceals' irregularities. It is most often used under the eyes, to conceal dark circles. It is first applied on the dark areas, and then foundation is applied all over the face to even it out. |
Q: Having read your advise to people with dark circles it's clear you highly recomend the use of cucumber juice - would putting some in the bath be effective or drinking cumcumber juice even? Richard (LA, USA) |
A: Cucumber juice in the bath would be far too diluted and wouldn't help as much. Similarly, drinking cucumber juice will certainly have its own health benefits. But if you are interested in using it to lighten dark patches, it is best if it is applied directly to the skin. |
Q: Pls. help.....I have dark circles and they are not going away. I usually get 7 hrs of sleep. I am currently using a very reputed eye cream...but the dark circles are'nt going away! Mary (Mumbai, India) |
A: Apply cucumber juice to the area under your eyes, to lighten them. What is causing the dark circles? Increase your intake of iron through foods. Eat a balanced diet, with plenty of spinach, and exercise regularly. Remember, dark circles are often caused by lifestyle faults. Take a bath with cold water daily to improve blood circulation. Also, drink at least ten glasses of water everyday. |
Q: I'm 22 years old and I have bad dark circles around my eyes. I've been sing "Clinelle Eye Bright Cream" for about 2 months plus now, but it seems useless. I heard people said that tea bags can help to lessen dark circles around eyes. Which one is more effective? Cucumber juice or tea bags? Thank you! Winnie (Mumbia, India) |
A: Cucumber juice lightens the area and soothes it, while tea bags soothe the area and reduce swelling. Both are helpful, and you could alternate between both methods if you have swelling as well. |

A: No it will not be a wasted effort at all. But if you are in your late twenties or older, I suggest you apply an undereye cream at night instead of cucumber juice. Or one night you can apply cucumber juice and the next night, apply an undereye cream. |
Q: I am a 16 year old white female and I have awful dark circles, I wanted to know what I can do, if there are any vitamins I could take to make them go away. Any home remidies?? Amie (Banglore, UK
) |
A: Apply cucumber juice to your dark circles. Make sure the juice is fresh. You will need to cut a couple of fine slices, and squeeze them to get the juice. Don't remove the skin. Wash off after around ten minutes. You can even leave it on overnight if you will not be applying any other undereye cream. Make sure you read answers to the queries below as well, to get more tips. You could take a multi-vitamin supplement. A B- vitamin deficiency can also cause dark circles. Try Source of Life vitamins. |
Q: I have really bad dark circles and i heard i should get cucumber juice but i dont know where to find it could u please help me Kate (London, U.K) |

Q: Straight to the point - I have dark circles
(hereditary)
1. How long does it take to see the results from
cucumber juice? Is it something you see straight away or does it take few weeks/months before you would see a difference?
2. If it is seen straight away, it probably only
lasts for the duration of the day and you need to apply it every time your going out?
3. Hows it best to apply it? -Just using fingers
and spreading it under
the eyes? or soak cotton pads and put them on eyes?
I find that it dries off
quicker if you only use your finger to apply it.
4. When should it be applied - daily? once or
twice a day? e.g. morning/night?
5. Once you start this routine, you have to keep
doing it for life to
maintain the results? Chiman (Gujarat, India) |
A: You start noticing the difference after a few days itself. If you have the time, you can apply it twice a day initially, and after around two weeks you can start applying it once a day. It can be applied at any time during the day, and with fingers or with cotton, as long as the cotton is properly soaked in the juice. The results are temporary so if you want to keep the circles light, you will need to continue use. |
Q: I have huge very black circles aorund my fingers
where my rings are. I've wore them for 5 yrs and
this is the first I've ever done this. what do I do and what could the cause be? Natalie, Jason (Gujarat, USA) |
A: The cause is probably lack of circulation if the rings are tight or, your skin may have had an allergic reaction to the metal on the rings. Stop wearing the rings for some time and your skin should return to normal. Also, when you remove the rings, clean them well and clean your fingers well too. |
Q: I have dark marks under my eyes they are not bags how do i get rid of them please help Lyndonna (Gujarat, Italy
) |
A: Dark circles are often caused by lack of sleep, or even by low iron. Make sure you get enough sleep. Cut down tea, coffee, eat more fruit, and drink at least ten to twelve glasses of water in a day. Put cucumber juice on the area under your eyes. The area should lighten. dark circles since the age
of 10 . My father and mother also have dark circles.

genetic ? Please suggest a remedy. I also apply

my problem. Kindly reply swiftly so that i can do

be genetic? Is there a

appetite is quite
low.Lately,my dark circles have extended to the left

permanent solution for this. I have tried 'no marks'
but there has been no
significant change. Is laser therapy safe? Or should
i consult a skin
specialist? Please suggest all possible solutions.

Roohi Roohi (Mumbai, India) |
A: Apply cucumber juice to the area under your eyes. What is causing the dark circles? Make sure you get enough sleep, and increase your intake of iron. Eat a balanced diet, with plenty of spinach, and exercise regularly. Take a bath with cold water daily, to improve blood circulation. If your apetite is low, you could compromise by drinking more fruit juices. Also, drink at least ten glasses of water everyday. Laser therapy is completely safe, but make sure you go to a reputed clinic. Also, you could first try these options and if nothing works, you could then go in for laser, since it will be expensive. |

Q: I have dark circles under my eyes. i am 39 years old.i have tried many creams including 'NO MARKS'.tell me another way to get rid of them .i have tried potato treatment too. please help me? Anand (Mumbai, India) |
A: Are you getting enough sleep? Often dark circles result from a lack of sleep, excessive sun exposure, allergies or stress. Get an extra hour of sleep everyday, eat green veges, and make sure you drink at least eight glasses of water in a day. The easiest cure for dark circles is to simply camouflage them by applying concealor to your undereye area. For a more lasting treatment, start using an undereye moisturiser on a daily basis. If your dark circles are due to pigmentation, your best bet for a permanent cure would be to get a chemical peel or a laser treatment. |

A: Before visiting a beauty centre, why don't you try using various dark circle lightening creams available in the market. See if they help. Often, dark cirlces are caused due to lack of sleep, or disturbed sleep. Are you sleeping enough? Eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Avoid drinking too much tea and coffee. Avoid stepping out in the sun. Close your eyes and apply a cucumber slice on each lid. Remove after ten minutes. Do this everyday and you should see an improvement. |
