Due Date Club July 2008:Itchy rash on my belly
2008-05-05
Name: madhu

Hi gals,

I' m in my 29th week of pregnancy. I have been having these horrifying stretch marks on both sides of my belly which is not at all itchy but recently I have developed some red rash which looks like an allergy or small pimple like boils which are too itchy. Just cannot stop scratching my belly all the time and the more I scratch the more it spreads. I' m using Palmer' s stretch mark cream but that is not helping reduce the rash.

Can I use some anti rash ointment on my belly to just get rid of the rash? Will scratching the belly all the time have any bad effect on the baby?

Help !!!

Hello,
I am from August board, and as m due date is August 2nd, i also keep visiting July, as i can relate to my conditions with u ladies better.
My sister also have severe rashes and boils during her pregnancy, the main reason for this is actually long nails. Please chop off ur excess nails, so when u do scratch u actually do it with the tips of ur fingers which will avoid any infection on ur belly due to scratching.
Also, i have heard Palmer' s cream is not that effective, i use mothercare' s strech marks cream, and with God' s grace do not have single strech mark yet, nor doesit itch that bad.
Also, if ur infection and rashes are ver sensitive and itchy try using Ayur' s calamine lotion, it is suppose to give cooling effects to ur itchy belly.
I hope this helped.
Take care of urself and ur little one.

I had the same probleum too madhu...My doctor told not to use palmer' s stretch mark cream ...it will cause allergy....
so apply any moisturizer for a while stop applying palmer' s stretch mark cream.....
For me it was completely cured after stopping ....My doctor prescribed Aveeno Moisturizer. If it still bothers you take Benadryl pill.....that what she told to me.
I hope this will help for you Madhu....
