Raising Children:Basic Manners for Children

Name: Editor At what age do you think children should be taught their manners? Is it better to teach them at home or send them for classes to a professional? Which are the basic manners that every child should know?

How many times have you come across an ill-mannered child? Then, if you go to complain to the parents, you come away feeling disgusted by the parent' s behaviour itself. Adults should not expect their children to behave properly if they themselves are not capable of civil behaviour. Parents are supposed to teach their children the right way to behave. Yet, if the parent behaves like a jungli, is it right to expect to child to act properly. Forget sending children, such parents should be sent for manners classes. At least then we will get some peace of mind.

Hello Sanjana,
Kids are very soft, dont use words as ill mannered for a child as he is in stage of learning.
I dont know but hope that your child must also have problems behaving at else s house. If not that means you are just imposing yourself on your child and not giving him/her his own space to learn.
Or you are frustrated with something else in your life. Find out that!!
Or else
You are not blessed with a child yet

If your child is not behaving properly that never means that you dont have sense of manners.

It is just about finding out ways to teach your child.Never ever humiliate him in front of someone else.
Parents should not go with the judgment of other people that your child is ill mannered.
Have patience understand your child and then act accordingly.

Manners are not just about knowing how many different types of forks are there and what each one is used for. Manners is about being kind to people, and making them happy. It reflects badly on you if your child does not know how to be nice to other people.

Subject:  Why classes?
Sending children for manners classes is simply a money making racket. Why can' t you teach your child at home? Are manners so difficult that your child needs classes? Its simply preposterous. I think that sending children for such classes reflects badly on the parents.

Hi. I think you are being a little harsh here. The point of sending children for an etiquette class is so that they improve their social skills. Tomorrow, your children are going to go out into the world. They need to know how different cultures differ and how to act in different situstions.
