My mother in law is visiting us and is very interfering. She makes me cook everyday rotis and paranthas even though me and my husband dont eat it. she feels happy if i cook for her and keep on asking her whether she she wants to eat or not. even though she says she does nto want to eat i shoudl ask her 5 times and make her eat. This is wierd i am used to the culture where no means no. She makes me cook even when whether i am getting late for work. she cries and make a big issue if we dont do exactly the same way she wants. She wants to control the way we live which is not possible as we both work. Plus she does not allow my husband to help me in housework which leaves me working alone after 8-9 hours of office. what should i do? i get really tired, she does not undersatnd that and keep on taunting me that i dont care for her or she does not feel wanted. She thinks i should behave like a bahu and do all housework etc..whats hould i do? i dont feel like going home after work these days as i think i will have to go and work as soon as i reach. She forces me to do things that I dont do and dont want to do like forces me not to use dishwasher and clean utensils by hand etc. Ssri replied. Just because she is your husband' s mother, does not mean that she can have her way. Have a discussion with your husband about the same and ask him to convey it to his mother politely. If she still makes a scene, make sure you put your thoughts straight to her. You are a working woman, she should respect the fact and lend a helping hand rather than causing trouble. If the problem continues further or aggravates, you can take the help of an NGO. There are several NGOs that will help you out safely.
