it depends on your custom....from which part of India are u?i am from south,for us it is done in the 8th month and it is religious...so we called the priest etc.....and got it done with help of friends...as we are also alone here....you shud ask your mom or m-i-l how it is done...they will be ale to tell you what custom is followed in your family.

thank u so much for ur kind reply.now i got the idea about this ritual.i'm a brahmin too.so the best thing to do as u said is to call a priest to perform the pooja.i think we'll do that.GOD bless u & ur family.enjoy with ur little one

I am from south indian Brahmin community.For us there are two functions called the seemantham&vallaikapu.vallaikapu is mostly a ladies function where married ladies put chandan kumkum for the wud be mother&put bangles(mainly red&green) in her hands(one hand even number&one hand odd)&bless/wish her to have a safe&healthy delivary.when i read up online,in one article i read that these bangles bcoz from the 8th month wud be mom has to take great care&shudnt strain herself...even if one bangle breaks it means she is straining&is not taking care....
then the next is seemantham,which is religious&priest needs to be called...this is done by both husband&wife.....this is for the protection of the womb&mother&to have safe&normal delivary......it includes havan&the entire pooja takes around 2 1/2 hrs.our priest was very good&explained each&every thing to all of us present.
you have to call priest&give him urs&ur hubbys star&based on that he will tell you which mahurat is best for u.We had the vallaikapu at 7:15 in the morning followed by the seemantham which started by 7:45-8:00 and got over by 10:00....followed by food&then u have to give vethalai paku along with 2 bangles to all the ladies who come .when ordering food from outside make sure its a veg restaurant&food doesnt contain onion/garlic....coz its a religious function.u can search online&finde in deapth meaning of these rituals...i hope this helps...All the best!!and wish you to have a safe&normal delivary.
