Sleeping:7 mos baby - crying in car

Hi,

My son is 7 mos old. My problem is that he cries a lot in the car . I am working and it's really my fault that I haven't been able to take him out everyday for a walk and socialize him outside the house. My in-laws look after him during the day and they have no energy to take him down in a stroller etc.

My question is how do I get my son to be more comfortable in the car ? I will definitely make sure he's more socialized from now on.Did any of you have any of these problems ?

I don't know where you are located. Here in the US, it took a couple of trips when I had to helplessly hear my son cry his lungs out. Till his 9th month my mother sat with him next to his carseat. But after she left he was alone in the back. He slowly got used to it. I felt like the worst mother allowing her son to cry.

As for socialization: I am not sure what you mean by that. If you mean socializing with other babies/people, it will not happen successfully until 2 1/2 or 3. Until then, kids only play by themselves. Even when there are other kids around they will engage in \";parallel play\"; in the presence of kids but not with them. So don't blame yourself. He is just crying because he does not like being in the car. Can you hang some colorful objects in his view or play some music?

Take him outdoors whenever time and energy permits.

Don't worry. This (along with other things that cause us heartache) will pass :-)

hi minka,

we live in europe but right now we've come to chennai for holidays.had more or less a similar problem with my daughter when she was abt 6-7 months old.whenever i tried taking her out in a pram she used to scream her lungs out.this was because i always made her lie down in it .later i tried making her sit in it she also started getting better and now she is 16 months old,she enjoys it thoroughly.u can also see to it that ur son is able to watch the scenes outside the car window.give him some rattles/toys to divert his attention.

ive a different problem.my daughter is quite uncomfortable in the presence of strangers( already posted a msg in this forum).been trying quite hard to make her come out of it.its been almost 10 days since we came here but she is finding it difficult to settle down.she doesn't seem to tolerate even my parents.am totally confused and worried!!

My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
