Vijay Anna, it is all over. last Saturday, we went Tirumala and I had to offer my hair there(tonsure in kalyanakatta). My son, husband also got their heads tonsured. My mother inlaw is very happy and now she is behaving very nicely with me. I am getting used to it slowly. Thanks for your concern.I will get my old hair may be in three years.

Dear Suguna - Your husband is cruel. When you are feeling better,maybe you can divorce him. Why don't you take your son,and get on a plane and come to the States. You can apply for a green card and citizenship. Lots of nice temples here in the states.
I hope you have a lot of nice scarfs. Its best to get a large one, because a small one wouldn't cover. If
you sleep without a cloth, you might enjoy a satin pillow. If your emerging stubble feels itchy put some conditioner on it and leave it in. If you are upset and have trouble eating, yogurt goes down easlily. It also has lots of protein. If you feel depressed, talk to your doctor about taking an antidepressant temporarily. Same goes for a sleeping pill, if you need them. Finally, if you want to, look into the possibily of getting extensions, with all the hair collected, their should be some used for extensions if you want them. Example here in Connecticut we have a place called Invisions that could help you.

Your message is very encourageing for me. I also have to go to Tirupati and give away my hair, but unlike you, it is not my MIL. I took the vow myself when I was unmarried and now that I am mother of a son and a daughter, I feel like it is time. We have since moved to Delhi and I am working part time in a School. My family and employer knows about my vow and do not make a big deal about it but I am sure I would look absolutely hideous without any hair.
Can you or someone tell me:
1. In order to fulfil this vow do you have to get complete headshave or can you leave some hair. I dont know how can I manage and get used to it.
2. If you have long hair does it hurt to get them shaved. Mine is below my shoulders. I heard due to long lines they do it in such a hurry at Tirupati that it gets very painful.
3. Is ther any special preparation or instruction that I have to follow or tell the barber.
4.How long do you think it will take to grow it enough to look feminine again.
