Hi Ritu,
I had my dental x-rays done in my 5th month. I had asked my ob/gyn abt it and she gave me a letter which was written to the dentist that she is pregnant and necessary precautions to be taken during x-rays. I gave that letter to my dentist and while removing x-rays they made sure that they put the abdominal shield over my tummy. In fact, they were so cautious that they put 3 shields on me and then took my dental x-rays. So I had no problem. Everything just worked fine. Tell ur ob/gyn one more time abt the importance/urgency of having dental work done on u. He might recommend taking the x-rays with the abdominal shields. Good Luck!

Hello Ritu,

High-dose of X-RAYS are harmful. period.

If we travel, the Security-check at the airport are X-RAYs too. Dr said those X-RAYS are very mild and should not affect the babies.

For Dental, even though the X-RAY machines are directed to your face & chin, i think they are high-dose X-Rays. So be very careful.

As Kalyani says, talk to your Dentist one more time. Make sure they take all precautionary steps, before they beam the X-rays on your chin/face.

Do tell the dentist you are pregnant and also to the nurse who is handling the x-ray machine !!!

Hi ritu,
I have not had any x rays but i think that they will take necessary precautions before they take the x rays so that it will not affect your baby. But be sure to tell your dentist that you are pregnant. Also call your ob/gyn and reconfirm it.Don't worry. i pray that every thing must go on fine with you and your baby.take care.
