Hi Farokh,
I believe de-cluttering is good. Less is more. So, I keep fewer ornaments.
Like you said, colours do affect us.

You should see my small bedroom and my mother is ashamed of it.
On one entire wall, there are books on homemade shelves (I do all my own carpentary). On another wall (the opposite), third quarter is taken up with more books. You can guess. My mother hates my obsession. Books, that is. I have always promised her to buy NO MORE BOOKS, but I keep breaking promises when there are temptations. My computer is in one corner and it is a space eater. I keep no ornaments as I consider them as real dust collectors. My wall colour is magnolia. My bed is up against one remaining wall opposite to the window.
