Due Date Club September 2007:U/S Exp - Bilateral Hydronephrosis

Hi All,

I got my U/S done yday. I got to see my baby moving. The dr. does not show the baby with much interest. That in the 1st hand disappointed me. She just showed me the baby for few mins. I could see the face, heart, chest, spine, hands & legs...Nice to see it moving also...

Then i asked her if everything is normal and she said yes..but she said that some amount of Urine is found in the baby' s Kidneys...Which means there could be some obstruction in the urinary tract...So she said she wants to monitor me every month.

I was worried and asked her if this is a major complication and she said no but could be minor. I am worried because of this. I am yet to meet the dr. and my appointment with her is on friday...
Girls, any info anybody has come across regarding this????

And megs, i got to read ur u/s exp yday. My self & my hubby read it and we were really delighted to read it. Good to know that all is fine with the lil one. Hey just wanted to know if u guy shad been for 2d or 3D scan...Bcoz here they really are not showing much. Also megs, pls let me know if u wud b online anytime today or tomorrow. I wanna chat with u....

Take care,
Vidhu

Hi Vidhu,

Even my baby has been diagnosed with slight enlargement of the right kidney. The doctor says it \" may\" resolve by itself over the course of the pregnancy. I have an u/s scheduled for it at 32 wks. If it gets resolved by then - that' s great - if not the doctor would suggest next steps for treatment i.e. medicines or minor surgery after the baby is born.

I' m taking it easy for now - it' s not the worst thing that can happen, and from what i have heard so far, it is highly correctable and has no bearing on the child' s physical abilities.

I' m not sure if this is any re-assuring, but stay informed and work closely with your docs and hope for things to correct themselves.

All the best!

-RM

vidhu,
i dont have much idea abt bilateral hydronephrosis but i googled and saw in many sites that many minor problems of hydronephrosis can get resolved on their own. maybe thats why they want to monitor u every month. or else usually it will go away on its own in the first year of life. ofcourse ur doc must be knowing more and thats why she said that its not a major problem. so dont worry too much and stress urself..everything will be fine. see, when we dont know much, then we have to go by what the doc says..and she said its not something major..so dont keep worrying abt it. worrying will not do anything good. just remember that god is more worried abt us than we think. so everything will turn out fine..i' ll pray for u dear. anyways, u have an appt on friday..so lets see what she has to say..

regarding u/s, i too had a 2d u/s both the times.

take care
rakhi

Hi Vidhu

How are you? Good that you saw your baby moving...I feel it is really great feeling to see our cute babies moving..

Hey dont worry about that problem...as the doctor said it is minor..may be it is really minor..or else they would have told you..

Today when you meet your doctor get all your doubts cleared...dont worry...be cool...I know it is easy to say..but I think it is not a major one...

Here we have option of 3D scan...but they just did once. All other times, I had just 2D scan..In the 2D scan..the doctor says..hey see the hand is on baby' s face some thing like that...but I just cant figure it out..
Only thing which i can see clearly in a 2D scan is the spine and little fingers.

I hope in my tomorrow' s appointment they do a 3D scan..

ok then take care...
let us know about your today' s appointment...
just be cool..dont worry at all
take lot of care
bye bye
ramya

Hi Vidhu,
First off Congratulations! on seeing your baby move.. that' s very nice experience. I had 2D ultra sound only 3D wasn' t provided here.

Did you meet with pediatric urologist for advice? Let us know how your appointment went on Friday? I am sure everything is normal and fine. I will keep you in my prayers and DO NOT worry much. Matter of 3 months! days will fly and very soon you will be holding your cute little pie :)

Take it easy and dont stress yourself much! Let us know how the appointment went on Friday.

With luv,
Rose

Thanks a lot for your comforting words. Actually my appointment is on next friday and not today...Meanwhile i am trying to gather more info abt this on the internet so that i can get a clear idea when i meet the dr. hmmmmmmm...Really not feeling happy for having seen my baby. more than that this thought is on top priority on my mind. Iam trying to divert myself in my work and other things, as i feel somehow very strongly that my baby does not have major issues.
I have fixed an appointment for another scan for 4d scan rtomorrow in another hospital as i really want to see my baby again. i would let u know how it goes. very confusing bcoz the lady who did the scan told me that she wants to scan me after 4 weeks to see if there are any improvements. This statement is confusing...Anyway let me wait patiently and calmly...
Thanks a lot girls for including my kid in ur prayers. I feel good in sharing this with u all as we have decided not to inform either of our parents about this now.
Will keep u all updated.
Thanks,
Vidhu
