Medication Effect on Foetus:Insomnia at 7th week

I have insomnia or difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep. I am in my seventh week and this started happening in the past week. I am guessing it is all because of anxiety as I had to go through a lot to get pregnant. Now that I am pregnant I thought I shall be happy but this insomnia is affecting me.
Any body experience this. If so what did you do to overcome it. My OBGYN said that Benadryl was okay to take. I did try it for night and it seemed to work.

insomania is not very uncommon during preganancy and even i feel its due to the enxiety. I would suggest you to keep awake during the day so that you sleep well in the night and also relax and do not worry much abt your baby. He/she will be fine. You can try reading some pregnancy books or journals before going to bed.
Taking benadril isn't a nice idea.

hi!!
i too had to go thru lots of struggle to get preg. sleepless nights are a part of pregnancy. im still having them at 14 wks. but i never took any medicine during the first trimester. it needs more care as its the most critical part of pregnancy. u have already taken it, that should not affect the foetus. so dont worry. but try to avoid in future.
love and prayers,
pari.
