i am sai,i completed my 9th class.i am from a orhtodox family.my father decided to perform my sacred thread ceremony in summer holidays.my problem is that this invovles head shaving with some hair left behind and ear piercing.this is very embarassing.my mother is forcing me to follow it traditionally.my cousin sister lives in our home,she is doing her engineering.she is teasing me a lot showing her ear rings.she is even showing few posts in this discussion board that boys should be nude when the head is being shaved.even the head shaving should be traditionally started by sister.this is very embarassing.is that true that boys should be naked??
is it compulsory to shave head ??
even ear piercing is very painful,and is very girlish
is that compulsory
is there any alternative to skip these

ear piercing is not painful at all its a like pinch on hand, nothing else, so dont be afraid from this, and head shave is compulasary then do it, hair grow again so why you worry for this. In the thread ceremony boys wear white or orange dhoti/lungi while performing rituals . Ear peircing is not compulsory now a days and head shaving is 90 % done to follow old tradition . anirudha replied. i have thered ceremony of my relative
