Hi!

K Radha is absoluteley right about Clomid.I have to take it too.I did conceive on Clomid on first cycle but miscarried. No medications are without side effects and your doctor should monitor you closely.I had to get an ultrasound done on day 3 before I started Clomid. Then I took it from days 3-7 and then another ultrasound on day 11 to see if my ovaries are ready.I wasn' t and I had a repeat ultrasound 2 days later.I was almost ready so I had to give inject myself with HCG hormone to trick my ovaries into ovulating and then you time your intercourse.

I am not aware of the other medications and am also curious why your doctor is not following you more closely.

Hope this helps.

Subject:  Few Side Effects

Generally Clomid is used to induce ovulation. By tricking the body into believing that estrogen levels are low clomid stimulates the production GnRH which then tells the pituitary that more FSH and LH is needed. Clomid is considered highly effective with an ovulation sucess rate of 85%. As a rule it is not used for more than 6 cycles as studies have shown that the effectiveness is reduced and doctors move onto another drug.

Side effects include twins in 5% of women and higher order multiple are even more rare. Because the ovaries are being stimulated it is not uncommon for some enlargement to occur and rarely ovarian cysts. Other side effects similar to boating or breast tenderness are reported.

What are the other medications your doctor has put you on? By the sound of things it seems like you have an ovulation disorder which would account for your irregular cycles. Did the doctor explain why he was placing you on these meds? Keep in mind that while you' re on Clomid your doctor should be monitoring you carefully and keep you informed. It is suggested that while on Clomid if you' ve not begun menses by day 35 you may not have ovulated or may be pregnant.

Hi qrs,

I took Clomid for three mos. and the third month I was pregnant. I was also scared of all the side effects, etc. and was mad at my doc.
But, you know what, doctors KNOW what they are doing. So relax (I know very easy for me to say) believe me, mental peace is very important. I left it to God and I did my part by taking the medication.
I wish you the very best and hope you will get the good news soon.
Cheers!
Aisha
