Anyone feeling any Braxton Hicks contractions yet? Are they painful? How do you recognize them?

Hi M,

I think I am experiencing them.. You will surely know when you have them. You will get an uncomfortable Stretchy in lower abdomen.. They are usually painless. They may get painful towards the end of the pregnancy

But I have read that BH is a very loosely used term... so if you are experiencing them and if you do not think that they are not feeling right, then go to Dr. and check them out. Do not blow them off thinking they are normal...(most of the times they might be very normal, which is OK). So if you are experiencing more than 4-6 (Stretchy feelings in the lower abdomen) per hour, go to the Dr.

BH may usually go away if you:

1. Empty your bladder, drink some more fluid and lay down on your side.
2. If you change the position that you are in when you got them.

If what you are having are BH, then one of the tricks to reduce is keeping yourself hydrated. Drink lots of water..

Hey M, I haven't experience them yet and hopefully will not any time soon.

As far as I know, the uterus starts preparing itself for the birth and contracts once a while and you will feel the contraction (a wee bit of pain). It doesn't last for more than a few seconds but if you experience more than 5-10 in a row with a few minutes in between each, you should call your doctor.
