Due Date Club October 2003:Cord Blood Storage

Hi All

Are you planning to go for the storage of cord blood? Cord blood is released only at the time of delivery, so if we plan to store it with some bank/agency we should decide it soon. This blood is stored for life time and can be used in the cure on many diseases, not just limited to baby but to the parents and other family members also. Still I am not very sure, i need to do more research on that. I just thought.. let's all do this research together....

Hi Manisha,
As u posted, I too feel like buying an u/s machine at home :)
I got a brochure abt the CordBlood Storage. Kind of I was little scared.
I am not sure if I am going to go for it. Also its close to $1500 per baby. Not just for money, I dont know of anyone who has done this and got benefitted. Still I am not very sure but not thinking abt it seriously.

yeah.. it really costs high. Even I don't know anybody who has gone for this. I am also not sure if we should go for this. Then we never know if we move back to India and the blood stored here will be available there or not... so many doubts!!! I thought we will all discuss it to help reaching to a conclusion.
Actually the banking agencies provide free phone consultations, but obviously they will be very positive that we should go for this.
I am planning to discuss it with my doc in next visit.

thanks
Manisha

I too was interested&wrote to them&got the brochure.Well it is a novel idea but works out real expensive an intial hefty payment&yearly maintainance fee for the cord blood.
I decided i would rather implement cooking right, eating right, living healthy&leave the rest to god.
