Planning a Baby  Discussion Forum

Hi there,
i have been going thru a bad pahse.wr have been trying for a baby fore the last 5 yrs but no luck since.I went for ivf but falied .i m depressed too.Dont want to take a second chance.wnt thru physical and mental turmoil.dont know what to do?can anybody suggest me something.I will really appreciate. i reside in delhi. replied. hi,

I did 1st IVF in 2003 which was unsuccessful. Did the treatment again in 2005, it was successful and I am expecting twins in a couple of weeks.

I do not know if many people would believe, but the 2nd time I did IVF, I got an aunt who is an astrologer to find dates most auspicious for me and my husband so that I could conceive. We went by those dates this time, and I am glad that it worked.

I am based in Mumbai, did my treatments in Pune.

Rainbow replied. Anjali, I have been through the same boat and I think I can share my experience with you if that helps. I did have high hopes on ivf in the sense that we kept postponing the ivf attempt waiting for it to happen naturally. Then we had 2 ivfs which simply failed. I agree it is really disappointing and we almost lost hopes on the future. The doctor we went to was a very good one and he always used to say ivf improves the chance but is not guaranteed. But the more attempts we have, we could analyze and come to a conclusion. After the second one when the doctor realized that in both attempts some eggs were getting wasted due to improper fertlization. He suggested ICSI to improve the fertilization though my husbands sperm count was ok. The third attempt succeeded and am in my 9th week now. I hope and pray that I do complete my term successfully and have a healthy baby.

From my experience what I would suggest you is that have some realistic expectations on ivf. Even in normal conception attempts, it takes 6 months to 1 year which means every month a healthy egg and sperm are generated but do not conceive. Ivf can only boost the chances compared to all other methods but is more or less same as normal conception. But in ivf the doctors can see the quality of egg and sperm and suggest on possibilities.

So please do not loose hope.If you are financially ok, do consider other attempts. But make sure you go to a good doctor who analyses your past attempts and suggest good.
