im manisha doing my b.tech in hyderabad, two months back my parents had a vow to have family tonsure in tirupati.. we are a family of 5 , mom dad me my brother(12th) sister(7th).. the mokku was taken because i was suffering from jaundice... my experience happened last week .. i will post my experience now.. manisha reddy replied. it all happened last week .. we started on friday and reached the tirupati on sat morning .. we decided to walk up the hill so all of us reached foot path and started walking , we reached a counter in the midst of hills where we got our tickets , i dint know for wat it was .. we happily enjoyed the view and thoughts were completely filled with excitement and fear.. my brother dint feel comfortable with the idea but he accepted for me :)my sister was completely ok .. we reached tirumala and went to our room which was booked .. after freshing up we decided we wld get tonsured in kalyanakatta .. all of us went and i was expecting no less crowd cos it was a weekend.. we stood for an hr in line , dad took tokens all for tonsure .. all of us waited near one barber who was shaving a guy' s head .. first mom went , she had shoulder length hair , she gave the token to barber and he wetter her hair again and massaged smoothly .. she asked him not to tie the knot and do it just like tat so he had to make it nicely wet and smooth , he bent her head and mom said govindaa govindaa and surrendered her head.. he finished her in about 10 mins.. she stood up and looked so cute with the complete white scalp shown.. next was my brother.. he also gave his token and sat down , he already wet his hair well so the barber dint have to worry , he just changed the blade and poured some water on the crown and bent his head .. dad said pilaka petandi koncham pedaga, he said ok .. he was completely tonsured and left wit pilaka on his crown.. he looked so funny , next was my turn.. i wet my hair and sat.. he massaged so well and i just felt no fear , before he started mom said devudu ni taluchukuni baga nunnaga kotandi, tanakosame mokku.. he said ok.. i bent my head and said edukondalavada venkataramana govindaaa govindaa and surrendered.. he slowly started from the crown , strands of hair fell , i was completely done in about 10 mins .. next my sis also got shaved , my dad was the last and like my brother he also shaved with pilaka on his crown.. all of us were very happy , we went to our room and got fresh .. we got ready for darshan and before going out , all of us applied sandal paste so tat it wld cool our heads.. while on our way , dad and brother stopped , had nammalu on their forehead and tied their pilaka with a knot ... i really liked the namam on my brother' s head so big so asked if we cld also put tat , he said ok u wish and i also got it applied.. we waited for hours in darshan to get the glimpse of venkanna for seconds..
it was a divine journey ... i loved it !!
