Womens Issues:Plans for Valentine´ s Day?

Hi Ladies,

What are your plans for the Valentine' s day??

I am planning to go out for lunch with hubby the previous Saturday...maybe to an Italian or Thai restaurant...on the actual Thursday, we will have a candle light dinner at home (after the baby goes to sleep ofcourse).. )

I am also planning to buy one of those photoframes which contains 4-5 different types of photos...and put all our romantic pix in there and gift it to him on the D day. :)

Any more ideas and suggestions...roll them in...

love,
Ritika

hmm.. Its my story ! I was practical before marriage, and used to laugh at this day ! and after marriage,I was craving to celebrate this day just because millions celebrating it.(though,I too never believed in it )
But he feel it just a mania. But first two years, he celebrated it just not to disappoint me .he gifted me a cute& huge ' love u' bear. Later I just stopped to care this day somehow... May be I' m influenced with his thoughts... May be matured enough to understand his feelings ....and not to compel him to follow this day juts because others following... Somehow...Since 2years...this V' day is not moving me anyway.
Became so called matured to not to be moved by small small beautiful things in this small life...Anyway my dad never gave any such treats on v' day to my mom! Still ,I know how my dad care her! So I' m practicing to live in previous generation to meet with my dear hubby' s mentality !
Honestly, Now I' m not disppointed to not to receive anything on V' day like i did on 3rd v' day of after my marriage. ..
Sometimes loving and showing care on him and receiving similar smiles and treats make me happy . I just did facial to him today before his bath and he loved it and his pampered mind showed me happiness. I love it. Thats it. So,this time, I am not going to celebrate anything on 14nth feb.Sharing his feelings and understanding his feelings is making me feel nice than compelling him to be like someone else whom I dont really know about in other goood charecteristics that my hubby possess/.... :) Nice ,ha?!

Ritika, I wish u an amazing V' day because both of u seemed to be loving this day! ..Get going with ur cute surprises ) !N' joy! Hey, I liked ur comparison with b' day and marriageday...yes,Its worth celebrating this day to show eachother how they care !

Thanks Sonu for your wishes!!

For me it is more important to spend the day (or in this case, the weekend before) together and do things that we enjoy doing - like maybe watch a movie (if we get a baby sitter), have a candle light dinner, go for a walk in the sun holding hands...to be honest, my hubby is so busy always that he sometimes doesn´ t find time to even buy a birthday gift or V day gift for me. But he does, does bring me flowers :) and he feels very guilty afterwards and tries his hardest to make it up to me :) like once he spend a week bringing me a surprise gift every evening after work. Someday it was as small as a biscotti from a near by coffee shop. One day it was a box of chocolates. One day a T-shirt from my alma later that I had mentioned to him one day. One day a new nickname he had thought for me..you get the picture :)

The love you have described with your hubby is wonderful! And any day you get to collect such beautiful memories, I think that´ s a 24 carat love day right there :)

L,
Ritika

This sounds a great plan Ritika, I am also feeling inspired to make few plans. For me there is another reason to celebrate this day. I got engaged to my sweetheart this day and he is one of the best things happened to me.:-)

Cheers!!

My husband and I both didn' t make a big deal of Valentines day....infact for the longest time we laughed at all the marketing on gifts and how goo gaa everyone went for one day out of the year when each day could be romantic and celebrated.

Anyway, 5 years into marriage and my daughter comes along on Valentines day!!! So now we have no choice but to have a grand celebration on the day to celebrate her b' day...the irony of life :) LOL

Hi Mehek,

That is such a cute story!! :)

I like Valentine´ s because it gives a chance for us to celebrate our love for each other...just like anniversaries are celebrated (even though one still remains married the rest of the year too) or birthdays (even though you live the other days of the year too) or mother´ s day (even though your mother still remains yr mom the rest of the year too).

I believe it is just a way to take a moment in our lives and celebrate a person or occasion that is special to us. Yes, every day can be equally romantic and if it is then it is a wonderful thing. :)

Just my 2 cents.

L,
Ritika
