Hi,
I am new member to this board and would truly appreciate any advise/thoughts/comments.I have a 21 month old son. He does not seem to talk enuff for his age...he is able to say a few words when pointed out in abook..such as car..ish for fish and ba balloon/ball......does not call us as mummy or daddy..he used to say daddy when he was a year old but does not now...he does not point at things..and only goes close to things he want and screams to get our attention.....he has never had the habit of putting anything his mouth...so altho he is able to hold food...he doesnt know to put it in his mouth.........he is an otherwise active and healthy child..he is able to understand some of our instrcutions like go get the ball, give me your hand etc........and likes for us to read his books and even pretends to read it himself...he started walking only aroun 19 months...we have spoken to our pediatrican and he said he seems like a normal child..dont worry if he does not speak by 2.5yrs we will sart speech therapy....i want to know if there is anyon out there who has had similar experience ........or soemthing similar........i am driving myslef nuts wondering if ther is something worng.........Please repond supriyasanoj replied. We are in the same situation.now my son is 2 years and 4 months.when he was 2 our doctor suggested to leave him in daycare for just couple of hours in a day.so we are doing and we can really see good improvement.
feeding on their own in depends on their hunger and intrest.he gave us a tough time till 20 months.one day he was putting a pencil in his mouth.so i took the pencil and gave him a toostie roll.he really liked the taste and after that day he started feedingon his own.
so dont be worried about his sppech devolopment,try leaving him in daycare,so he will play with kids of his own age and they learn lot other activities too.
