hi,
my baby is 1month 15 days old. i had a c-section , so in the initial 2 days i couldnt feed him, later though i faced a difficult , i got him used to latching. but the problem is he drinks for about 2 hours but still he feels hungry.moreover i find it difficult to hold him for 2 hours to feed him. my mother says it is due to insufficient supply of my milk. i am depressed that i am unable to feed him properly. is anyone facing this kind of a problem. please help me , so that i can feed my baby with more of my milk.

Please dont feel so depressed. I had the same problem and felt utterly frustrated when I was forced to give my baby bottle feed from week 2. While that filled up the baby's stomach and he started sleeping longer hours, he also started suffering from what is called \";nipple confusion\"; and would create a scene when breast fed, because it takes more effort to suck from the breasts and the quantity of milk was very little. He would look for the bottle more than breast milk.So I would try not to feed him in the morning hours saving all the milk for feed from evening till late night. While breast feed is the best and if possible should be the only food for babies, do not blame yourself and suffer because of your inability. There are many like you. What do you think happens to the adopted babies ? Dont they grow up well? I know many who are fully grown up people now and doing well in life. So please shake off the guilt feeling and see what best can be done. It is not your fault that you are not getting enough milk.
You can also go to your gyne for some milk producing medication. I was given Reglan by my gyne and it helped a bit to increase the flow but nothing substantial.

Hi Manju,

On ur question on how to take fenugreek seeds, i just take the raw seeds and sawallow it down like tablets about 3 teaspoons , 3 times a day. Just a caution, fenugreek seeds has a tendency to bring ur body sugar down so beware and take right after food. Also it is a excellent body coolant ,so watch out for any reactions on ur baby like sneeze, cough etc. I have not had any problem with it on my baby. the good thing is it is natural and excellent source of fiber so any excess should be excreted automatically by ur body

hope this helps

Hi Srisha,

I had a c-section as well and my had to be in special care for initial 3 days due her TSH level being high at birth for observation. therefore when i got home i was fighting her back to breast, since she had got used to bottle. She is my first baby so did not know that exposing the baby to bottle that early i was jeopradising breast feeding. when i won her back to breast some where end of a week i spent hrs at breast. i called up a lactation consultant. she advised me to have fenugreek seeds about 3 teaspoons 3 times a day to increase the supply. Also told me that baby's go through growth spruts and hence will feed more on those days. Asked me to pump between feedings to signal to the brain to produce more, to have a hot drink like horlicks before feeding. I followed these instructions, i had no problem getting the supply. try not to supplement with formula. wait for atleast 3 days for the supply to set in , in some cases upto 5 days. now my baby is 6 month still on breast milk , i am working even then try to follow these tips and keep the supply going . there is no other better stimulation than the baby itself. let the baby decide how long and how much to feed on a side. also try to have oats ,it helps in lactation. remain calm and relaxed for a proper let down.

Hope all this helps . hang in there and don't be discouraged

hi there!
as said the more baby takes u'r milk, the more'll be the production of milk!
so take very gud diet like have boiled egg daily, add more jeera in u'r fud i;e in case u eat rotis add jeera in flour and make roti, eat green leaves more and also Tindora i;e kundru in hindi!it increases the milk supply!
if u'r doctor permits u can even have fish which also helps to great extent!
dont worry and have gud diet!
takecare!
