hi saniya and all,
I feel my skin has lost its glow after my pregnancy(i hv a nine month old baby).i can' t deny hving interrupted sleeps, house chores,minding the baby by myself..i hardly find time to look after my skin. its gone dark around the eyes and lips.otherwise my skin is fine..no pimples or anything..just lost its glow. can you advise any home remedies..also something quick and easy? currently i hv started using himalaya scrub and moisturiser 2-3 times a week.otherwise i just moisturise my skin daily after bath.

dear nikita,
first of all, congrats for the baby!secondly,i apologise sincerely for replying late..i didnt do it purposely, trust me..i am in the middle of quite a lot and hardly get time to visit the board but i' ll try my best!

coming to ur problem,u need to specify ur skin type but i won' t waste more time by asking u to do that. basically, u need to start washing ur face with besan+ milk + haldi.just take an airtight container.add besan, milk powder and very little haldi.add more besan if u have oily skin and more milk powder for dry skin.renounce other beauty products and start washing ur face with this mixture by adding a little water every time u wish to use it.wash ur face atleast thrice daily. normally i would have asked u to keep it on for 15 min but since ur short of time, just massaging for 2-3 min will do.make sure u use neither too hot nor too cool water.
if ur skin is oily,use the following mask everyday:
oats powder+ yogurt+ lemon juice+ tomato juice+ orange peel powder.
mix these things well and apply on ur face.let the mask stay for 20 minutes. then wash it off. this won' t waste ur time because preparation takes hardly 3 minutes and while the mask dries,u can perform ur daily chores.

for dry skin,use this mask daily:
almond powder +malai+ lemon juice+ haldi (hardly a pinch)+ honey+ grape juice( for better results. u can omit it if u want)
apply for 20 minutes and wash it off.

there r certain precautions u need to observe while using lemon juice. it' s a bit strong so if ur skin is really sensitive, omit it and replace it with rose water and potato juice. use masks only after sunset because exposure to sunlight after using lemon juice can harm the skin as it' s a natural bleach. always protect ur skin with a sunscreen and test whatever u wish to apply on ur face on ur arm first. if no allergic reactions r observed within 24 hours, u may proceed with application on face.

more than these masks, ur diet and lifestyle will affect ur skin.follow these tips for glowing, healthy skin:
1)in the morning on waking up, drink a glass of warm water+ 1 tbsp honey+ juice of half a lemon.

2)drink 8-10 glasses of water daily.

3)consume the following regularly:
apples
carrots, cucumbers n tomatoes (in a salad with lunch and dinner)
yogurt
a glass of milk

4)avoid sun exposure to the maximum.the sunlight entering ur home is harmful too so make sure the curtains r drawn.

5)exercise daily.it improves circulation and makes ur skin glow.15 min every day is enough.

6)depression, stress, tension etc cause dullness. adopt a positive attitude towards life and learn to be happy.

7)for dark circles, keep potato or cucumber slices for 15 minutes under ur eyes.

8)sleep well.go to bed early and wake up early.this is really important for glowing skin and healthy body.

i understand the tightness of ur schedule but to gain something,u need to make time for it and put effort into it.i wish u all the best.if doing all of these things is impossible,then try to follow as much as u can but plz drink 8-10 glasses of water daily and protect ur skin from the sun no matter what.
