Hello I have couple questions for the ladies who live in US or any foreign country and were born in India.
Will you ever consider moving back to INDIA?
Are you close to your family
Where is your family - India or where you live?
Where is your husband's family - India or where you live.

I am considering moving back to India. That is why I wanted to get your opinion.

Thanks

I was born in India and stayed there for the first few years of my marriage.I had the following problems in India 1. We lived in a joint family and so had all the problems which go with it like lack of privacy, outside interference in our marriage and my children getting spoilt because my in-laws would not let me discipline them. 2.Lots of visiting relatives so our monthly expenses shooting well overlimit plus all the extra work and cooking which go with this.3.Obligation to attend all the sundry functions of relatives as you live nearby.4.Children getting a upset stomach atleast once a month.5.Cost of living is also quite high in the major cities of India. If you think the above problems will not be encountered by you,I am sure you will enjoy India.

I moved to US couple of yrs back with my husband. Right now it looks like we both want to settle here itself. To think of the pollution, cut-throat competition in kid's education and the freedom I enjoy here makes us feel we are better off here. Ofcourse there are disadvantages too like living too far away from parents and raising children in an environment diff from India. But we are inclined towards US. Its what u and ur family wants ultimately.

I grew up in India and I am now living abroad since my marriage. This is an important decision and should be based on practical reasons and not just emotional reasons. Careerwise, explore completely and if possible secure a good position before you move. Also it is much easier to move if you are young, and/or your kids are small and you don't have a house to sell. Good luck

I was born and brought up in India and came to US almost 3 years back. I got married after coming to US and our families are in India. And now I am pregnant and we are expecting our first child.
Life has been very good in US and we have been very happy but still both us miss our family back home. Luckily my in-laws are also very sweet people. They visited us a few months back and I had an awesome time with them.
So we have decided to head back some time soon - We don't want to deprive our child of his/her grandparents, relatives, cousins ! And also because we miss our country and feel that no matter how good our life is in the States; it can never make up for the wonderful feeling of staying in our own country and among our people !

I was born in India, moved abroad when I was a child, compleated my education there and returned to India after 18 years.

My parents and brother are still there but I choose to return. The whole process took around 3 years, as I didit gradually.

Husband is Indian through and through!

Life here can be extremely frustrating at times but on the whole no regrets.

I don't think would work. It would make one have garlic breath which could be a turnoff. I strongly feel that this is the time in their life to put down Kama sutra and take up some Yoga Sutra and religious books. Maybe she becomes like him too. More spiritual.... - Kim [View Message]
